Half Marathon Playlist + a New Swimsuit

I woke up this morning and went for a 6.5 mile run. My legs were still pretty tired from the past two days’ workouts (lunges and intervals). I also think the fact that I haven’t been to yoga in a while is playing a part in my tired legs lately. Or, maybe the lunges which are new to my routine (at least on a regular basis) is the culprit. Or both. One of my friend’s invited me to Pure Barre tonight so I did that today too. And um, yikes, my legs were dying. I didn’t push too hard on the leg work, but burned out my abs so that was good.

Speaking of abs… I ordered a new bathing suit! All of the ones I own are solids and in pretty blah colors, i.e. the ones that are on sale at J.Crew at the end of the season. hahaha. So I wanted something bright and with a pattern. This J.Crew Shattered Swirl bikini fits the bill I think!

It already came and while the top is great, a quick group text with my friends confirmed that the bottoms are waaaaaay too skimpy. But they have another style with more coverage so I just ordered those. Hopefully it all comes together!

Alright, onto music! A while ago, I tweeted asking for running songs and I put together a playlist that I’ve been using for all my long runs and for my treadmill intervals. (Although, some songs I skip for intervals…the beat isn’t fast enough. And I don’t listen to music when I’m doing intervals outside on the track.) People asked me to share what I put together so here is the playlist including some recommendations from others and some of my current favorites. I was really creative with my playlist title. 😉

My Hard Running Playlist

Here’s the HTTP link to it on Spotify, and here’s the Spotify link. (I’m not sure of the difference but hopefully one works for you guys. Let me know if not!) I also embedded it below so you can play the songs if you want, and I included screenshots (I had to do it in pieces – sorry!) so you can pin if you want.

What are your go-to running songs? I like to keep adding to this to keep it fresh!

What’s your swimsuit style? Bold colors and patterns? Simple solids?

I love this playlist! I have yet to try Spotify, but I’m getting tired of Pandora. I need strong beats for intervals for sure!

Love the playlist! I ALWAYS need new music! My go-to right now is Ed Sheeran’s SING. I love a fun swimsuit top and a solid bottom, I’m not a fan of my hips/thighs, so I think the fun top attracts attention away from my lower half. But that’s just me! 🙂 Thanks for sharing this!

What a cute suit! I typically go for a fun top and a solid colored bottom that pulls one of the colors out!

Hey Teri! LOVE this playlist! I’m moving to Winston-Salem and wondering where the best places are to run outside in the downtown area or in parks! I’ll be moving in to the new apartments by the BB&T field and want to get some good runs in a few times a week! Thanks!

These are some of my go-to songs when I need to light a fire under my pace. I’m not much of a lyrics girl, so my motivation comes from the beat and sound of the song, rather than the words. These work for me, they always get me moving!

“Lean On Sheena” — The Bouncing Souls
    “Mr. Brightside” — The Killers
    “Raise Your Glass” — P!nk
    “Still Into You” — Paramore
“The Best Damn Thing” — Avril Lavigne
    “The Reason” — Hoobastank
    “Thrash Unreal” — Against Me!
“What The Hell” — Avril Lavigne
