Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer review
Update: I linked to other Beautycounter products I’ve tried & loved since I posted this, so check out my Beautycounter page for more details and to read additional reviews!
I posted on Facebook a while ago that I was looking for a tinted moisturizer or natural-looking foundation. I had previously tried Laura Mercier, Tarte, and Bare Minerals and honestly didn’t LOVE any of them. They were fine, but nothing I was pumped about. I did try a Trish McEvoy Beauty Balm sample that I loved, but when I looked it up, it was $86. I’ll shell out for skin care products (currently obsessed with Colleen Rothschild), but I can’t stomach that much for make-up. Anyway, I got a ton of recommendations from friends and readers (thank you!) and the Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer that my friend/blog reader Ally recommended sounded exactly like what I was looking for. After using it for a month, I AM OBSESSED.
Why I like it
It’s thick, but once you apply it, it absorbs right in and just makes you look like you have perfect, glowy skin. I can’t speak highly enough of it. AND, it’s only $45 and my tub seems like it’s gonna last forever since you don’t need to use much.
I’ve been paying $40-$60 for tinted moisturizers/BBs/CCs/foundations for years. Dew Skin is the best + the most affordable I’ve used. Plus, it has SPF which is always nice to have that built in. One friend told me that she even wears it to work out since it’s that light-feeling and she likes a little coverage for the gym.
I didn’t know much about Beautycounter before I tried the Dew Skin (other than seeing that it had won some awards from Allure), but I really like the company based on a little research. Their #1 priority is safe skin and beauty products. It’s not “all natural”, but ya know what? I don’t wanna slather coconut oil on my face. Sorry. And, “all natural” can be totally misleading and doesn’t actually mean that it’s safe. I want skin care and make-up that WORKS and isn’t a total mess to use AND isn’t full of scary things. And BeautyCounter fits the bill. Plus, I’ve loved everything I’ve tried so far. (I also really like their hand cream and lip sheers – the Petal shade is beautiful.)
I didn’t care that much about skin care safety (or at least I didn’t think I did) until I read this. And it’s kind of dumb, when you think about it, how careful I am about the food I eat (and even what I feed my dog), but I don’t give much thought to what I slather on my skin (that obviously absorbs into my body). Their Never List is a good resource no matter what brand you use. I especially like how each of their product pages says what their product is made without that is common in most other products, and why that’s important.
I’m not sure if I’ll deviate from my beloved skin care routine right now, but I definitely want to switch all my make-up over as I run out of things/replace old gross things since I’ve been so impressed with all the beautycounter make-up products I’ve tried. I really want to try their eye shadow next (the shell/malt duo is so pretty). My current eye shadow palette is a billion years old and I don’t even really like it that much since it doesn’t stay on well.
Freeeeeeeeee gift for you! [promo period has ended]
The lovely people at Beauty Counter offered a free gift to my readers with any order over $55 (before tax & shipping) for the next week if you order though my link. So, if you buy Dew Skin and a Lip Sheer, you’re there! 🙂 You can choose either a free hand cream (one of my favorites) or a Charcoal Cleansing Bar. (I looooove skin care products with charcoal. Charcoal is great for oily or combination skin to remove impurities and clear pores, and I like it even on my dry skin. I use a charcoal bar that I got from my farmers market once a week for a deeper clean.)
Okay, I wasn’t planning on posting entirely about Beautycounter today, but this is getting long so I’ll save my other Friday Favorites for another Friday.
If you use Beautycounter, I’d love to hear what products you love! Muah! Thanks for reading!
