Fall fashion is the best and now that it’s officially fall, I feel like I can start looking at refreshing a few things in my closet. Never mind that it’s supposed to be in the high 80s today. I figure by the time I get home from our honeymoon, it’ll be cooler and I’ll be ready for booties and cardigans.
When looking at my fall wardrobe each year, I like to have a mix of on-trend items and classic items that will last for years. This year, the on-trend items I like are mules and twist tops (I have this one and love it) and my fall classics always include long cardigans, tall boots and richly colored bags. I also like browsing Nordstrom’s New Arrivals section for cute fall items since they always have great stuff.
Every year, I make sure I have a pair of tall black boots and brown boots. I like to have both flat and heeled options since they make outfits look so different and flat boots are just more practical most of the time! For tall boots, I buy quality over quantity since they will last for YEARS if you take care of them. I finally got a Tory Burch pair of black boots after eyeing them for 4 years, and I’ve had my flat brown boots for over 7 years. I also always want ankle booties in as many colors as I can afford. ha! Sole Society has a ton of great, affordable options.
I like having a classic black bag and brown bag, and I like to have one that’s a deep rich color, like this burgundy crossbody bag I’m eyeing. I don’t ever really feel like I need much more than those 3 options, although I’ve been using this embroidered bag non-stop and have a feeling that will continue. (You can see it in this post and on my Instagram here and here.)
Tops & Jeans
Below is what’s at the top of my list with comments about why I love each item + some great price point call-outs!
2 – this bag. So, so pretty for fall and the holiday season.
3 – this sweater. Overly long sleeves usually bug me, but this looks cozy to me. The lower price point makes me feel better about buying into the bell-sleeved trend.
4 – ankle booties. Gotta have them and I gotta replace mine that are 8 years old and just gross. These come in 4 colors and are under $100. I don’t know which I want! (Is “all of them” an okay answer?)
6 – mule loafers. I love the look but don’t want to spend a ton on a pair since it’s surely a passing trend. The pair I’m eyeing is under $70, comes in 9 colors and has great reviews.
9 – a simple dress. Ruching is flattering on almost everyone and this dress comes in a bunch of great fall colors (and is only $56!) to pair with ankle booties and a long cardigan.
What are your favorite fall items?
I created a Fall Wishlist Page so as I find new things throughout the season, I’ll add them there. It’ll be automatically and regularly updated so bookmark it or Pin it and check back! And click here to pin this blog post.
This was my favorite outfit from last fall! 🙂
