Hey y’all! I hope you’re having a great Sunday! It’s been beautiful in Winston-Salem since we got home from Boston, and it feels SO weird to not have extra long runs to do now that marathon training is done!
I’m working on a Boston Marathon blog post (so many thoughts!!) but I’m also enjoying a little down time, from training and from blogging. I’m sure I’ll get back in the swing of things soon, but I’m really enjoying all the extra time I have on my hands. I’ve run twice since the marathon and it feels great, and I especially appreciate the beautiful weather after the brutal race day weather – ha!
Alright, let’s get onto my favorite links from the past week. And a round up of current sales are below!
This is best thing I’ve seen on Twitter in a very long time.
The 2018 Boston Marathon was Perfect Chaos. YES YES YES.
In the age of hyper-professionalization, this kind of stuff isn’t supposed to happen anymore. If the big marathon story of 2017 was the Nike-sponsored Breaking2 Project, a meticulously controlled, closed-to-the-public attempt to get a few superstars to run obscenely fast in perfect conditions, Boston 2018 was the perfect foil for such elitism. It was as though the marathon gods summoned a mid-April tempest just to remind us that the event isn’t supposed to be about the sterile pursuit of arbitrary records.
How to Turn Anxiety into Excitement : I tried to use this mindset for the Boston Marathon!
People Who Have “Too Many Interests” Are More Likely To Be Successful According To Research : Well perfect. Because I love running, Crossfit, golfing, yoga, reading, writing, walking, cooking, the outdoors, studying psychology and behaviors, and history. 🙂
I Tried Fascia Blasting for a Whole Year; Here’s What (Magically) Happened – my PT told me that scraping actually does reduce cellulite and then I saw this article – ha! Glad scraping was doing more than helping with my running tightness.
Most Popular Diet in Every State. “The Fast” in Utah cracks me up.
It is letting yourself be normal. Regular. Unexceptional. It is sometimes having a dirty kitchen and deciding your ultimate goal in life isn’t going to be having abs and keeping up with your fake friends.
If you find yourself having to regularly indulge in consumer self-care, it’s because you are disconnected from actual self-care, which has very little to do with “treating yourself” and a whole lot do with parenting yourself and making choices for your long-term wellness.
