I love spring fashion but it can be hard to dress for temps that seem to be all over the place in one week and even in one day. My approach is to mix some of my favorite winter items, like booties and long cardigans, with lighter layers and trading heavy sweater for long-sleeved dresses and light blouses.
Spring Fashion Must-Haves
A pretty new purse – I tend to use my cognac and black purse year round just because I’m too lazy to switch them out more often. But, I really want to get a light gray purse this year. It’ll be just as versatile and black or brown but a little springier. 🙂 Maybe this one? or this?
Cozy cardigan – I just got this one and it will be perfect to layer over dresses or tops in chilly restaurants, at the office or church.
Long sleeved or 3/4 sleeved dresses – I LOVE LOVE LOVE dresses since they make you look instantly polished. And long-sleeved or 3/4 sleeved dresses are perfect for spring and there’s something so feminine about them. I try to find easy-to-wear dresses (not too tight or fabrics that need a lot of ironing!) and I like them paired with booties or loafers in the spring. Nordstrom has a huge selection – I have one similar to this and LOVE it and I just ordered this one. I want this one because hello pockets. And Lilly Pulitzer dresses are always super easy to throw on – they fit like a dream and their day dresses don’t need ironing. I have this one and NEED this one.
Rain Jacket – I just got this one and I’m OBSESSED. I’m regretting not buying a real rain jacket when I moved to the South nine years ago since it’s already proven to be very practical and useful. Ha! This one is really cute too.
Light booties – I just got these perforated booties and they’re adorable with jeans or a dress and more importantly, super comfortable. I love the lighter color after wearing cognac all winter. I’m dying over these in caramel too.
Heels – I don’t find I have to refresh these in the spring since I always have a classic nude pair (these and these are my favorites) in my closet that goes with everything. But I’ll usually take them to the cobbler to have them polished and repair the heels if necessary. I am thinking of getting a block heel pump this year though since I fell in love with a tweed pair I got last Thanksgiving.
I also LOVE browsing Nordstrom’s New Arrivals section for cute spring fashion items. They always have great stuff.
