Lately, I’ve been paying closer attention to things that make me ridiculously happy. Small things that cheer me up. That relax me. And I’ve been trying to do more of those things and less of the things that don’t relax me (like playing on Twitter or Facebook). Here’s a list of 5 things I’ve figured out bring me more joy than seems reasonable given how simple they are.
1. Light candles.
2. Set a timer for 15 minutes and organize an area that drives you crazy.
3. Take a walk. With your dog and without your phone.
4. Text or call one of your friends. I don’t love talking on the phone, but I love texting with friends. And it always cheers me up. And when I am in the mood for a phone conversation, it cheers me up even more.
5. Sitting in my bed reading. It feels so luxurious to be in bed when it’s not bedtime. 🙂
What simple things cheer you up?

atIt’s such a good feeling to go on a social media cleanse – but so hard too! I need to do it more often!

atI love this post idea! I’m with you on lighting candles. I also find that listening to music helps. And opening up the windows to let fresh air and sunshine in.

atI’m obsessed with listening to music lately! While grocery shopping, walking to and from the parking deck, all the time. It seriously makes everything more pleasant. And I can’t wait until the humidity drops here so I can open the windows – love fresh air!

atI love the feeling after completing a tough sweat session and being so proud of myself for pushing through. I also love my time to myself during nap time. I up on sweats and sit in my bed and get work done while listening to my fav podcasts.

atBeing with or talking to friends or people I care about, and getting in a really, really good & sweaty workout. Research actually shows both of these are some of the main keys to maintaining happiness!
