This weekend started out with a girls’ night on Friday night with Crystal. We got take-out Thai Sawatdee and drank wine while doing a little online shopping and chatting. Then I left Maizey with Crystal on Saturday (you can tell Maizey was very upset about this) and I headed up to the mountains to stay the night at Anna and Grant’s cabin. (Thank you for pupsitting Crystal!!! You are the best!)
John and Grant had gone up to the cabin on Friday night for a little man night and Anna and I headed up early Saturday morning with this little babe. Â She is such a beautiful baby! And so sweet; I don’t think I heard her cry once all weekend. Isn’t she sooo cute??Â
You know what else is cute? Watching John hold and play with little Bennett.Â
Heart. exploded.Â
On Saturday, the boys chainsawed out in the pouring rain while Anna and I stayed inside, read magazines, drank wine and listened to music. 🙂 After the rain cleared, we went on a few hikes around the cabin. Anna and Grant showed us all the hunters’ buses. (I bet my brothers will be jealous of these!
Speaking of hunters, we ate elk Saturday night that one of my brothers’ got on a hunt last year and my parents had brought out to me. It was delicious, if I do say so myself. I marinated it, seared it, cooked it in the oven and then Grant cooked it over the fire to finish it and give it a nice smoky flavor. But I’m glad I didn’t have to stay in one of these buses to actually hunt the elk myself. I’ve leave that up to my brothers and dad. (And niece! My 13-year-old niece goes on the elk hunts! She’s much more hardcore than I am.)
On Sunday, we did a little fishing as the clouds rolled through.
Wahoo! Success! I threw him back.Â
And we shot guns. It’s been a while since I’ve been shooting; I need to work on my form!Â
Grant took us all around on the four wheeler. Everywhere we looked there were gorgeous vistas. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country and to have friends that spoil us with trips to their cabin! We went to their cabin last winter and loved it! It’s equally gorgeous up there when covered in snow and ice.
Thanks again for a wonderful weekend Anna & Grant! And thanks to Crystal for pupsitting the Maizey bean.
Back to reality on Monday…
