Everything that could go wrong this morning, did.
Except this cape sweater. Everything is right about this. It’s cozy, it’s comfortable, it’s not itchy (and everything itches me), and it’s affordable. 21 bucks! (It feels nicer than that though, thank goodness.)
My morning was later redeemed with chocolate biscotti and a cinnamon latte, and running into a lovely friend at the lovely coffee shop. But mostly, the sweater saved the day because it’s so darn cozy, like wrapping myself in a hug.
The nice thing about this cape sweater is that you don’t have to wear it over something; you definitely can layer it over a tank or long-sleeved shirt if you want extra warmth and it still looks cute. But, if you wear it solo, you won’t be overly exposed if you move your arm the wrong way – just a little peep of skin. I recommend saving that option for date night, not the office. 😉
I’m really obsessed with capes and ponchos this year. I don’t know what changed because in years past, I’ve thought they’re ridiculous. Is this new-found love is a sign of keepin’ up with the times or being behind the times? Or maybe it just means I’m at a point in my life where I want my outfit to look good but it also needs to be super easy.
You know, come to think of it, capes and ponchos are a bit like bangs – they make you have instant style – but capes and ponchos don’t come with the horrible grow-out phase, so really, they’re better. Throw on some skinny jeans, booties, and earrings, grab my purse, and I’m out the door.
Nordstrom has a great selection of ponchos and capes, as does Asos.
Happy fall! Capes for all!

atI wish we were having cape/sweater weather here in Texas! It’s miserably hot still and everyone is getting pretty annoyed with it! Come on, fall weather!
