These swimsuits are flattering, not too skimpy and timeless to last you for years!
Shopping for swimsuits can be so defeating. I feel like every year the trends get skimpier, which is not really my style, especially in my mid-30s! I also think swimsuits have gotten increasingly more expensive. How are we spending so much for such a small garment??
But alas, if we hope to get in the pool or go to the beach, we need swimwear — and swimwear that makes us feel great. The styles that I like vary by year and I’m definitely having a one-piece moment. But whatever style I’m purchasing, I try to purchase bathing suits that I know I’ll wear for a long time. Nothing too trendy and nothing that’s cheaply made.
I believe in quality over quantity, so I typically buy 1-2 nice bathing suits a year and just alternate between them. Again, the key here is buying suits that are simple and not too trendy. (This is actually my fashion advice for all of my clothes, not just swimsuits!) And then, when I’m not feeling my best in swimsuit anymore, I sell it on Poshmark!
Flattering Swimsuits: Picks For One and Two Pieces
This year, I’m not really feeling bikinis. And while I’ve disliked bandeau styles in the past, my #1 pick for a swimsuit this year is actually a bandeau one-piece!
And so far, Thomas LOVES the pool!! I can’t wait for another pool outing with him!
While I am mostly looking at one pieces these days, I still included some cute two-piece swimsuit options below. I also have an older post with maternity swimwear picks if you’re expecting.
Flattering Swimsuit Picks – one & two pieces!
Ruched bandeau one-piece swimsuit
This one piece is the best find I’ve had this summer. It’s SO flattering with the front ruching (especially if you’re postpartum) and the neckline is nice too! I didn’t really like bandeau cuts before this suit but I love love love this one, especially in hot pink. It comes in SO many colors I may buy another!
Ruched femme one-piece swimsuit
This swimsuit is a similar ruching style as the above but with straps. This is also SUPER flattering but I prefer the strapless on me this summer since I found it provided more coverage, which I need while breastfeeding. (I have lululemon shorts on over it in the below photo.)
Long-sleeve rash guard in Nila block print
I LOVE this top. It’s a rash guard that I would wear as my top (and I’ll wear this bikini top under for more padding). I love the print and the fact that I would reallllly help keep the sun off of me. I’d pair it with matching bottoms.
Cutout tie-back one-piece
This swimsuit is super simple but the small cut out gives it some visual interest. Super feminine and flattering!
Easy Retro One-Piece Swimsuit
I love this light blue swimsuit and the dainty tie around the waist. I have a thing for simple looks, and this really fits the bill.
One Piece V Neck Ruched Ruffle Shoulder One Piece
This swimsuit is from Amazon but has raving reviews. I got it last year while pregnant (just sized up) and LOVED IT. It definitely is cheaper quality than my J.Crew swimsuits (my go-to brand for swimsuit), but if you’re going to only wear it for a couple summers, no biggy!
Island Goddess One-Piece Swimsuit
This one piece came in a Trunk Club and while it’s very plain, it is SO flattering! It comes in 4 colors. See it on me below.
Plunge V-neck bikini top
French bikini top
Colorblock bandeau one-piece
I think this one piece is super fun with the stripes on the top! It could be worn strapless or with the removable straps. It comes in shades of purple and shades of blue!
The Maria, Black Mesh One-Piece Swimsuit
I got this Albion fit swimsuit a month ago and I LOVE IT. The back is super cute and the front has great coverage.

Happy swimming and lounging! And don’t forget sunscreen! We all love this this spray sunscreen!
