My Swimsuit Picks: Flattering One & Two-Pieces

These swimsuits are flattering, not too skimpy and timeless to last you for years!

This is the first year I’ve been TRULY excited for pool season since I am SO excited to take Thomas now that he’s a little older! The swimsuit styles that I like vary by year and I’m definitely having a one-piece moment. But whatever style I’m purchasing, I try to purchase bathing suits that I know I’ll wear for a long time. Nothing too trendy and nothing that’s cheaply made or that isn’t full lined. (However, if there’s a fun occasion you want a fun swimsuit for, sometimes a cheaper option is best for a one time wear!)

I believe in quality over quantity, so I typically buy 1-2 nice bathing suits a year and just alternate. Again, the key here is buying suits that are simple and not too trendy. (This is actually my approach for all of my clothes, not just swimsuits!) And then, when I’m not feeling my best in a swimsuit anymore, I sell it on Poshmark! In this post, I’m rounding up my favorite picks so far, at lots of different price ranges. I love a mix of solid colors and patterns, since I get bored of the same suits after a while.

Below you’ll see options I already own and love, and a few suits I’m eyeing this season.

Flattering Swimsuits: Picks For One and Two Pieces

Flattering Swimsuits

This year, I’m not really feeling bikinis. And while I’ve disliked bandeau styles in the past, my #1 pick for a swimsuit this year is actually a bandeau one-piece! I LOVED it last year and it stayed in place well, even wrangling a then- 9 month old!

Flattering Swimsuit Picks – one & two pieces!

Ruched bandeau one-piece swimsuit

This one piece is SO flattering with the front ruching tummy control (especially if you’re postpartum) and the neckline is nice too! It’s fully lined AND has a full coverage bottom. I wasn’t a fan of bandeau cuts on me before this suit, but I wore this non-stop last season and plan to do the same again this year. It comes in 10 colors, and it comes in a classic fit or a fit for long torsos, which is great for taller women. I wear a size 2, and I’m typically a size XS in most items. I think this style would be flattering on all body types.

Ruched V-neck one-piece swimsuit

This swimsuit is a similar ruching style as the above but with straps. This is also SUPER flattering but I prefer the strapless on me this summer since I found it provided more coverage, which I need while breastfeeding. This also comes in lots of colors, and it’s a great option if you like the suit above, but prefer straps. This suit does not have adjustable straps, so that’s important to keep in mind. I’m wearing it below with some shorts on top.

Cutout tie-back one piece

Yet another alternative to the two swimsuits above, but this swimsuit has a flattering cut out detail on the back. If you want something slightly sexier than a basic one piece, this is a great (and still modest) option.

Scalloped One Shoulder Bikini

You’ll see a lot of scalloped suits in this post and that’s because I LOVE them, and they are very popular this season. I’m not wearing many two pieces anymore, but this one is the cutest I’ve seen in a while (and affordable too!).

Active short-sleeve zip-up one-piece

This zipper front one-piece is SO chic. The little cap sleeves make it feminine, but it’s also extremely practical. Pair it with gold earrings and a sarong, and it’s straight out of Hollywood. I’m so excited to try this style because it looks comfortable and like I’d be able to actually swim in it. Thomas is taking swim lessons this summer, so I’ll get to be in the pool with him! I’m leaning towards the navy color since it’s a little sportier.

If you’re breastfeeding, this may be a great option for you as well with the front zipper.

Bow one-shoulder one-piece

This swimsuit is beautiful and feminine. The bow is such a pretty detail, and I love that the rest of the suit is basic.

Color Block One Piece

I LOVE this pink and red one piece. The colors make me so happy, and so does the price tag.

Leopard High Waist Strappy Bikini Set

I got this suit last year and wore it a LOT. It’s the only two piece I wore last year, actually, and it’s only $30. While I’m not a huge proponent of cheap suits, sometimes they really do work, and this one did! I have the green color. The high waist bikini trend is a great option if you’re feeling iffy about bikinis in general since the high waist bikini bottoms add so much coverage.

One Piece V Neck Ruched Ruffle Shoulder One Piece

This swimsuit is from Amazon but has raving reviews. I got it two years while pregnant (I just sized up) and LOVED IT. It definitely is cheaper quality than my J.Crew swimsuits (my go-to brand for swimsuit), but if you’re only going to wear it for a couple swims, no biggy!

Island Goddess One-Piece Swimsuit

This one piece came in a Trunk Club and while it’s very plain, it is SO flattering! It comes in 4 colors. The straps are adjustable and it has flattering ruching for tummy control.  See it on me below.

French V-neck bikini top

This is a very classic bikini top (which is why I like it). It comes in tons of colors and could be paired with any bottoms. I would likely get the matching high waisted bottoms with full coverage. I do think this top is made for small chested women, so keep in mind that there isn’t much coverage for fuller busts.

Farm Rio Floral Print One-Piece Swimsuit

This is splurgy but BEAUTIFUL. I love the pattern, the neckline, the tie shoulders…all of it! I just bought it!

Square Neck Ruffle Shoulder One Piece

Another incredibly flattering, feminine one piece. This color is gorgeous.

The Maria, Black Mesh One-Piece Swimsuit

I got this Albion fit swimsuit last year and I LOVE IT. The criss cross back is super cute and the front has great coverage.
