Friday Favorites + A Weekend in CA

Helllllooooo! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Friday Favorites! I know many of you requested that I blog about adjusting to life in a new city, and I listened and started a draft on that. And then, I forgot to transfer the draft to my laptop and it’s stuck on my desktop and I’m traveling and only have my laptop. So, I will get to that when I’m back home. I’m currently in San Francisco and then onto Sonoma for a bachelorette party. YES I AM SO EXCITED THAT IT REQUIRES ALL CAPS! ๐Ÿ˜€

I just got back from a run in the Presidio with my best running bud Anna (whose bachelorette party is this weekend). It was a gorgeous morning with gorgeous views, and it was really nice to do some trail running. Running together when we both lived in Winston-Salem was so cathartic and the time flew by, so I’m really looking forward to running more with her this weekend. I’m on a total runner’s high after our 7 miler – it was the best run I’ve had in a while. Good running friends are one of the best things in life.ย

After our run we stopped atย The Millย for gourmet toast. Buckwheat and cranberry toast topped with almond butter and honey to be precise. And a little loaf of gluten-free bread for the weekend. Gourmet toast with good black coffee is pretty much what my dreams are made of. ย (Sorry for the blurry pic – I was apparently in a hurry to dig in.)

Okay, onto Friday Favorite! Here are some things I’m loving lately.ย

Chuao Chocolate. This stuff is amazing. They sent me a nice little package with lots of flavors, some full-sized bars and some smaller snack size bars too. You don’t even want to know how quickly I went through all of them. The Cinnamon Cereal Smooch is like chocolate covered Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I promise you that is a very good thing.ย

These two wines from Trader Joe’s: Dearly Beloved & Tribunal.

I discovered Dearly Beloved one when I went to Trader Joe’s on my last night in Winston-Salem before moving to Charlotte. I told the clerk I wanted a good wine that wasn’t too pricey because I wasn’t going to finish it given that I was moving the next day. He then proceeded to act like we were really good friends (I think we had chatted 2-3x before?) and then say, “Well I can help you drink it! And how am I supposed to take you on a date if you move to Charlotte?” hahaha, sorry sir. But thank you for the wine recommendation! It was a great choice! I think it was a $9 bottle? It’s a staple in my wine rack now.ย

Tribunal is a bold wine that packs a tipsy punch. We’re talking over 14%. But it’s super smooth for being so high in alcohol and my wino friend Meg can also vouch for it. We quite enjoy tipsy texting each other when either one of us is enjoying it. ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Sun Cups. You know how peanut butter cups are amazing? (If you disagree with that statement, I don’t even understand youโ€ฆ) Turns out sunflower butter cups are also amazing. (The caramel cups were decent but not as good as the sunflower butter ones.)

We’re headed up to Sonoma soon so I better go get ready! Enjoy your weekend!

Holy shoot, those trees! Oh I have one of those Chuao bars but haven’t opened it yet! It’s the pretzel toffee swirl one.

I wish I had both beautiful views like that while running and a sunflower butter cup to enjoy after my run. ๐Ÿ™‚

I loved the Presidio when I visited San Francisco, it was the most beautiful place, especially when the fog lifted and it was bathed in sun all at once!

Dearly Beloved is on of my faves! We got it for a party last fall just because the bottle matched the tablecloth etc (sugar skull theme). I opened it a couple weeks later and was surprised how much I loved it.

Teri! I love The Mill so much. It’s the perfect after running treat. We used to go there after our long runs while marathon training. I moved to Seattle from SF last August, and The Mill is the one thing (other than friends) that I MUST have every time I go back for a visit! glad you got to experience the joy of Josey Baker Bread!

San Francisco is so beautiful! Sounds like you’re having a great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚ I had to laugh at the comment from the Trader Joe’s clerk! I seem to get those types all the time!! Hahaha! But at least you got a good wine recommendation out of it!

Sun Cups are sooooo good! My little sis just got a full time job in Charlotte and is moving there in June. I’ll have to let her know to check out your blog for info on the area!
