Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I started my day with a super easy run which felt great. My pace bounced around between 7:30-9:15. I am still a bit sore from yesterday’s Pure Barre class; I was seriously WHIPPED after class yesterday. It feels good to be back in the Pure Barre routine. Operation bathing suit (i.e. tight abs and booty) is in progress! I loved the way I looked in a bathing suit last year, and I give Barre a big chunk of the credit.

Alright, onto Friday Favorites! Here’s what I loved this week!

French Press coffee! I’ve been in a bad habit lately of just using my keurig because I run out of time in the AM to make the good stuff. It’s super easy to use a French Press and is actually pretty quick, but I don’t plan ahead and grind my beans (I have a manual grinder) or remember to turn on the tea kettle, and the extra 5-10 minutes just becomes too burdensome when I’m late and a k-cup is sitting there. But, this tasted ahhhhmazing.

This green shirt. It’s from J.Crew Factory and has just enough stretch to fit nicely but isn’t tight. I love well-fitted flowy (is that a word?) tops. And I’m obsessed with the color, but it’s sold out online. (The pants are also from J.Crew, the Minnie Pant.)

The Grand Budapest Hotel. I asked you guys last week if anyone had seen it but sounds like no one had! GO SEE IT! It’s hilarious! And really well done; I like Wes Anderson films. And it just dawned on me when I was trying to find a picture why the main character looked so familiar to me: VOLDEMORT!!!!!!! Gah!!! I really liked him in this movie though. But seriously, I just screamed out loud at my computer “VOLDEMORT!!!” hahahah. It was a great cast including Jude Law and Adrien Brody, and there were a ton of cameos in the film too (Owen Wilson, Bill Murray).

Ice Cream. Mmmmm ice cream… I haven’t been on an ice cream kick lately but now that it’s warming up, that will likely change. I snagged this when it was on sale; normally it’s wickedly expensive. Like $6-7 for this tiny thing! I had this flavor at Kure Beach and loved it. John accidentally bought the No Sugar Added kind (which uses Stevia to sweeten it) when we were at Kure, but we both loved it.

Hot Sauce. Mmmm hot sauce… I’ve been obsessed with putting hot sauce on everything lately. And this is my favorite kind. My dad is a hot sauce fanatic, so we always had dozens on hand (including CRAZY hot ones), but this was a staple and I still love it. It’s spicy but not the type of spice that is debilitating.

Pan-Seared Salmon. It’s my go-to meal these days when I don’t feel like cooking what I planned or I don’t have anything planned in the first place. This was last night’s meal (after I stuffed myself with Trader Joe’s Plaintain Chips. Seriously…I cannot buy those. I have no self control. None. Anyway…). Here’s how I prep it.

The lovely folks at Sizzlefish recently sent me a big ol’ shipment of fish that stocked my freezer and has been awesome for quick meals. (Funny side note – when I went to find my recipe post on how I pan-sear salmon, I realized I posted the recipe the last time I got fish from Sizzlefish!)

Have a great day!

What was the last movie you saw? I think I may need a movie binge fest this weekend if we end up having rain.

Do you like hot sauce or hate it? Any particular brand(s) you love?

Hi Teri! I have been reading your blog for so long, I feel like I know you(!), but I rarely comment. Your love for barre class has inspired me to try it out at my gym but I would love to know what you bring to class? Do I wear shoes? Socks? Help! Thanks!! 🙂

And thanks for blogging, your insight and thoughts are always appreciated.

Hi Hope! Thanks for commenting!! 🙂

For Pure Barre (or any barre class I’d imagine), I wear yoga clothes. Leggings (Capris or full length) and a tank or t-shirt. You don’t wear shoes, but you do wear socks. Most studios sell their own sticky socks (little grippers on the bottom) but I don’t think you’re required to wear them. Hope you like it! Let me know how it goes!

And thanks for appreciating my blog. Hearing comments like yours is what makes blogging worth it!
