If Anyone Orders Merlot, I Am Leaving

Happy Saturday! This was a doozy of a week. Work was really stressful and I had some personal stuff going on too that was pretty tough. So I was thrilled when the weekend hit and John took me out a date. We were planning to do something low-key but ended up having a really nice meal at Spring House. We started with a drink in their bar area, which is so cozy. I got a Dark & Stormy and John ordered a glass of the merlot after the bartender sold him on it. We’re not typically Merlot fans but we both loved this. (Does anyone know the quote referenced in the blog title? 🙂 )

After our drink, we moved into the main dining room (they have 4 or 5 dining areas and they’re all beautiful). Our meal was fantastic. We both started with a shrimp, fennel, beet, goat cheese and spinach salad. It was incredible! I got crispy salmon with thai curry sauce. I wanted more curry sauce! 🙂 They said the phyllo dough around the salmon was GF
I don’t think it was, but I was ok. I really hope they keep both of these items on the menu when they swap it out next week. (They change their menu seasonally.)

It was fun to get dressed up (I rarely wear heels on the weekends since I wear them all week at work) and have a lovely date. We laughed all night and then I came home and crashed into bed.

(Pants and necklace are from J.Crew, sweater is from Bloomingdales, heels are from Piperlime I think?)

One other thing that cheered me up mid-week was this print that mysteriously came in the mail. It’s totally my style and I love the quote, so I knew it had to be from someone that knew me well. Turns out it was Meg! She’s such a great friend.

Have a great day! I’m headed out for a 5-6 mile run and then getting my eyebrows threading (YAY!!!). 🙂

Do you typically wear heels or flats to work? Or, if you don’t work, what do you usually sport?

When i worked in a corporate office I wore heels as much as I could. Some days I would give in and put on flats mid-day. I always carried a pair with me.

Smart! I love wearing heels at the office but I like standing at my desk. I should pack flats for when I’m at my desk and swap when I’m walking around or going to meetings.

Sideways!! I wear flats or riding boots with a little heel to work. I really love that quote. It’s from A Midsommer Night’s Dream which is my very favorite of Shakespeare’s plays. I’m actually working on a tattoo design incorporating it.

Yes, Sideways! That film did not do much for the Merlot industry.* I do like Merlot–which is not the same as Merlotte’s, lol. It would probably be excellent with salmon.

Also from Sideways: “* It tastes like the back of a [bleep] L.A. school bus. Now they probably didn’t de-stem, hoping for some semblance of concentration, crushed it up with leaves and mice, and then wound up with this rancid tar and turpentine [bleep]. [Bleep] Raid!”

I don’t usually wear heels at work because I have to run around around–up and down stairs, one end of the library to the other–etc. I also have a couple of hammer toes and an on-and-off Morton’s neuroma and I don’t think heels help that. I wear ballet flats, Western boots, or riding boots. Sometimes I even wear TOMs to work, if I don’t have a meeting to go to.

hahaha that is another great quote!

Do you have a favorite brand for ballet flats? I need a new pair desperately.

    Great movie! 😀
I actually had a similar experience this weekend, while wine tasting near Seattle. The winery had a pretty good Merlot which surprised me and I may have quoted Sideways, as well!

I like wearing heels to work but I have a hard time walking comfortably in pumps, so I usually wear boots with heels. I work at a VA hospital which is a large campus spread across multiple buildings, so I get a lot of walking in during the day — great for health/fitness, but sucks for outfit planning! haha.

    You look great, cute outfit!

I’m jealous you get to walk so much in your job! But yeah, it’d definitely cramp outfit styles sometimes! 🙂

Just got these a few weeks ago and LOVE that I can wear them to work for a full 8-9 hours and they’re still comfortable!! And every time I wear them I get stopped on the street and asked where they came from 😉

Those totally look like you! I never would have tried them on but I kinda love them now that I can picture them on you. Haha! Totally going to buy them! What color did you get?

The coral of course!! It’s a softer leather compared to the other colors that almost feels like suede – no breaking in necessary! Ain’t nobody got tolerance for that when they’re 8 months pregnant! Hope you like them ????????
