A review of LARABAR, why I like them, how I fit them into my diet and where to buy LARABARs (including a 25% off promotion on Amazon right now!).
You guys know that I’m really careful about what I put in and on my body. And eating real food that is minimally processed is really important to me. Yes, I still eat processed food (toast is my weakness!), but I try to make most of my food at home and if I’m eating on-the-go, I pick packaged foods that are made with whole, simple ingredients as much as possible.
What is a LARABAR?
LARABAR has been one of my favorite brands for years since their products are made from 100% real, minimally processed ingredients – unsweetened fruits, nuts and spices. It was founded by a woman (woot!) named Lara (yep!) who believed that real food should be accessible for everyone, even when life gets busy.
All of their bars are gluten-free and many flavors are vegan, dairy-free and soy-free. And LARABARs have only from 2-9 ingredients (depends on the flavor). I remember the first time I looked at a LARABAR ingredient list and I couldn’t believe it. Their simple ingredient list is amazing – you know what every single ingredient is! I mean, look at this.
Post-Run Fuel & Afternoon Snacks
I keep LARABARs in my gym bag to eat when I finish a long run. By the time I cool down, do a little stretching and drive home after a run, it’s hard to eat a real meal in the optimal recovery window (30-60 minutes). But, I can easily eat a LARABAR in the car when I’m driving home, and they’re easy for me to stomach too. (Sometimes my stomach is queasy after a really long run. Anyone else??)
LARABARs have also been my pick lately for afternoon snacks at work. My sweet tooth hits around 3 PM, and while I usually have dark chocolate around, I’ve been out lately (sadness!) and a LARABAR has been hitting the spot. It also helps so I don’t inhale the pantry when I get home after work. 😉
New Year’s Resolutions Made Easier (Plus Whole30 options!)
If you’ve made New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier, I think that’s awesome. I think it’s also good to have a contingency plan when you’re on the go so you aren’t forced to pick up something unhealthy because, let’s be honest, life often gets in the way of healthy eating. I’ve found that LARABARs are a perfect solution for that.
While I’m not doing the Whole30, I know a number of my readers are (and Amber is doing Whole30 + 5 days!), so I wanted to note which flavors are Whole30 compliant: Apple Pie, Banana Bread, Carrot Cake, Cashew Cookie, Cherry Pie, Chocolate Coconut Chew, Coconut Cream Pie, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Bar, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie.
My favorite flavors are Coconut Cream Pie, Peanut Butter Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.
Where to buy LARABARs
I usually buy LARABARs by the box since they’re cheaper that way, and as part of Amazon’s “New Year. New You.” promotion, LARABARs purchased through Amazon are 25% off. (The deal ends 2/14.) I’ve also found that Amazon has the most variety of flavors. The 25% off promotion applies to one item and it’s the lowest priced item. So, if I were you, I would buy a box to really take advantage of the savings. I find it much more economical to buy these in bulk vs. buying just a few bars at a time.
I’d love to know what your favorite flavors out! Leave a comment and let me know. I really should branch out – Carrot Cake and Lemon Bar sound amazing.
Thank you to LARABAR for sponsoring this post! As always, all opinions are my own and don’t reflect the opinions of LARABAR. And my opinion is that LARABARs are delicious and a product I 100% recommend.

atHey! Thanks for the shout out 😀
Larabars are a lifesaver during Whole30! I totally have the apple pie flavor in my purse right now just for a rainy day haha. The coconut cream pie is definitely my favorite but I’m not sure I’ve ever really disliked any of them. I really like the chocolatey ones when I’m not staying W30 compliant.

atCoconut Cream Pie & Cashew Cookie…So yum! I remember feeling a little disappointed with Apple Pie when I was doing the Whole30 but I have yet to try one that wasn’t edible. Thanks for the heads up on the deal, hopping over to stock up now!
