Hi friends! Happy Friday! And boy, am I glad it’s Friday. Last night was pretty crazy. I went to get a massage and I came home and stopped at Tommy’s for a bit; I headed home around 10 and my apartment building was surrounded by cop cars.
They stopped me and said that I couldn’t park and that I couldn’t enter the building. One officer told me that there was a hostage situation, another officer later said it was a suicide attempt, and yet another said it was just an unstable resident. So, I’m not really sure what the story is. I called Tommy and he came over, and he and I sat in my car with a guy who also lives in my building; he and his puppy were out shivering in the cold since the police told him he had to leave his apartment quickly since the unstable guy was on his floor. We all hung out until the police told us everything was clear. (We had to stay close because we weren’t getting any updates from my apartment complex so the only way we found out we could go back in was when the police told us. Sheesh.)
Luckily, no one was hurt and they got it all resolved and took the guy to a mental health hospital. I wasn’t able to get in to my place until after midnight (and Maizey was stuck in there by herself – I’m betting she was just sleeping and not missing me one bit), so I’m exhausted today and very glad it’s the weekend.
How about some Friday Favorites?
- Routines are my favorite. I’ve been in bed by 11 (except last night) and up by 6:30 everyday this week, and already feeling better after the holidays which brought lots of late nights and a sporadic sleeping schedule. I’m hoping to keep moving that all forward – in bed by 10:30 pm and up by 6. I feel so much better on an early-to-bed and early-to-rise schedule.
- Dove Dry Spray – I’ve never tried a spray-on deodorant — I’m a soft-solid kind of girl. But I told Dove to send along a sample when they offered because it’s always nice to have extras in my gym bag. Well, this is now my go-to deodorant. It feels less messy and sticky and works just a well. Two thumbs up! (Um, I realizing I really need to clean my make-up brushes. No one ACTUALLY cleans theirs regularly, right??)
- Chosen Foods Avocado oil – I didn’t even know this stuff existed (do I live under a rock or is this new info to you guys too?). I love cooking with the oil – it has a super neutral flavor and it makes veggies crisp up SO much better than olive oil. Not sure why, but I swear it does. I’ve used it for roasting brussels sprouts and making kale chips. And I like the avocado oil spray for spritzing on salads!
- This orchid. I always feel like a freaking magician when I don’t kill a plant. This has survived (albeit not thrived) for over a TWO years in my care. The blooms died off shortly after I got it and then the stalk died, so I cut it off, but the leaves looked healthy so I kept it around. Then, it suddenly starting growing a new stalk a few months ago and finally re-bloomed with this gorgeous bunch of flowers. I’m glad I didn’t give up on it! I started watering it just once a week and put it in a very sunny windowsill when I moved to WS, and it all turned around. Huh, who knew that plants like water and sun. 😉 Oh, I’m also loving my Christmas lights – I left those up in the kitchen because white lights make me happy year-round.
Alright, I’m off to enjoy the evening with Tommy! No major plans, except we’re having burgers for dinner and I cannot.wait. 🙂
Enjoy your weekend!
