My Solo Beach Trip Continues!

It’s my last day at the beach!

I ended up having a 100% solo vacation since poor Leslie Ann had some serious drama getting back home to NC after traveling for work (she had to drive home from New Jersey – kill me) and it just didn’t make sense for her to hop in the car again to drive 3.5 hours to the beach. I was bummed since I was super excited about our girl trip, but it’s just given me extra solo time (which you know is fine with me!).

Yesterday I went to the beach for a short bit in the AM and then headed to Wilmington for a pilates/barre fusion class at Forged Fitness with a woman I met at a race when vacationing at Kure Beach last year and we’ve kept in touch! It was so fun to see Christina again (who is seriously the cutest pregnant woman ever), it was a great workout, and the instructor, Jen, was a such a sweetie.

Jen and I ended up going to EPIC Food Company afterwards and she recommend the coconut milk & lemon zest latte which I NEVER would have ordered but it was AMAZING. I have to recreate that at home. I also got three gluten-free treats (two oat & blackberry bars and a biscotti). I’d be lying if I said they lasted past 3 PM. oops.

When I got back to the condo, it was about 11:30 and I don’t like sitting on the beach during the sun’s peak time (and I don’t have a beach umbrella to shade me) so I stayed in and played on the computer, read a little and watched TV. I still didn’t feel like sitting on the beach (I know, what is wrong with me?); I wanted to be outside but active so I went to the driving range. I used to go to the driving range and golf a fair amount in high school with friends and since dating Tommy, I’m remembering how much I love it!

Some storms rolled in right as I leaving the range to explore downtown Wilmington and then it started POURING. So instead of exploring outside, I explored Banana Republic. They were having a killer sale and I had some rewards points to use; I got a few tops and two pairs of shoes for a screaming deal once I used my 50% off and rewards points. Woot! I got back to the condo around 7:30 and ate some leftover salmon cakes I had made the night before and also made my way through a million chips and some guacamole.

This morning I woke up early, wrote a guest blog post for a friend, then did a workout on the deck of my condo (more details on that later – I kicked my own booty). I’m getting ready to head out to the beach to soak up the sun on my last day! Have a great weekend!

Ah, a solo beach trip sounds so relaxing! Just doing whatever you want whenever you want. Such a brilliant idea. And I love trying out different studios when I’m traveling too!

I think it’s so cool that you do solo trips! I’ve always wanted to do one, but I have a hard time thinking of somewhere to go where I can actually do a lot of things and feel safe doing them by myself. I tend to like more outdoorsy places, but not beaches since I live near the beach. Maybe one of these days I can figure something out! Sounds like you got to do lots of fun and relaxing things! And that is awesome about the Banana Republic sale. Now I’m going to head over to their website to check it out!! Hope you enjoyed your last day!

That sounds so amazing! I honestly just like being near the water. Being 100% irish, I can’t sit out in the sun for too long, even with sunblock! I totally get that it sounds crazy, but just knowing I’m on vacation sometimes is enough for me. In fact, I go on vacation in a week, and I am HOPING that it rains and hurricane danny brings some thunderstorms!! I miss thunder, lightning, and rain SO much.

I’ve really enjoyed my semi solo time on the trip I am on in England now – I’m staying with friends and have had plans on evenings and weekends but like being able to do whatever I wish during the day!
