New Running Shoes That I Won’t Be Running In

Happy Thursday blends! I love Thursdays….once Thursday hits, it pretty much seems like the weekend. Plus, I seem to always be super productive on Thursdays, both at home and at work.

This morning, I woke up early and finally cashed in a Living Social deal that I bought months ago for a month unlimited at a yoga studio. I love me some Bikram (read my top 10 tips for ย Bikram here), but I still find myself craving other types of yoga. When I was living in Utah, I attended a yoga class at the gym every week and got hooked. But I’ve been out of the flow yoga habit for a while.

The class this morning was a Power Flow class, and it was small – just 6 people, including me. I loved the personal attention the instructor gave and the small adjustments in poses he’d make on each person. Large yoga classes in the gym setting don’t allow for that. For me, the feeling after a Flow-type class is very different than post-Bikram. Maybe better, maybe not. Still deciding. But definitely different. I felt calm, but energized. Limber and strong. I can’t wait to go back. I wish they had early AM classes every day.

Dinner is just about ready – Tofu Saag with Brown Rice (a recipe from Skinny Bitch: Ultimate Everyday Cookbook, which I highly recommend) and then I’m going to take Maizey on a walk in this beautiful 75 degree weather. I’m excited to try out the new kicks that ecco sent me. They’re from their BIOM line, which is their “natural motion” running shoe.

How stinkin’ cute are these?

I love the inside of them too.

I won’t be running in these – I’m pretty sure I’m a Vibram lifer. But, while I haven’t been getting bored on the elliptical, wearing Vibrams on the elliptical hurts my toes since they jam up against the foot pedal thingys. Plus, I have a groupon for CrossFit and don’t think I’ll want to wear Vibrams for that. Moral of the story, I’ve been wanting to get some cross-trainers and ecco offered these to me at justย theย right time. I’ll let you know what I think!

Have a good night and happy weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey!

Actually your Vibrams will be good for Crossfit, except for the heavy weight lifting. Then you may want other shoes. Try several!

    You will LOVE Crossfit. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m excited to hear what you have to say about CrossFit! I loooove it, and I want everyone else to love it too. And actually, people wear their Vibrams all the time at my gym. Most of our coaches are super into the barefoot running thing, so you’ll probably be in good company. ๐Ÿ™‚

LOVING the Skinny Bitch: Ultimate Everyday Cookbook. ๐Ÿ™‚ I just had the Sweet Potato Seitan Hash, minus the seitan for gluten reasons, but with some tofu. Yummmm. HIghly recommended!

Lifting in Vibrams is awesome!!! It makes you a lot stronger [especially ankles] because you are working to grip the ground. You will love it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Those are super cute shoes. Love the pink!

    Those shoes are adorable!

Can’t wait to hear what you think about CrossFit! I’ve been doing it since August and am a total convert! Tons of people at my CF gym wear Vibrams, but shoes like these are popular too and look pretty similar to what I wear. I’m in the market for a new pair though, so I’ll have to check those out ๐Ÿ™‚

    Those are super cute shoes!

I love when my favorite yoga teacher corrects my poses. She doesn’t do it to everyone because she says she doesnt like to be “judgey” when it comes to poses. However, I know when she does correct, that means she feels comfortable with that person and has built up a trusting relationship with them. She’s the best!

I love those shoes, very cute! I am currently doing a month unlimited at a yoga studio in Raleigh that does flow and power flow yoga and I love it. I feel like it gets my heart rate up more than Bikram and I feel like I get a better workout. Although I must admit I just don’t like Bikram yoga, so there’s that.

Those shoes are cute! It’s funny what you say about the Vibrams and the elliptical because I can no longer wear regular shoes on it or it hurts my feet so bad so I wear my Vibrams and feel great afterwards.

I have only ever done one yoga DVD (we have a home gym) and I didn’t like that DVD so hopefully one day I’ll find one I like.

Hi there! I just stumbled on your blog and think it’s so pretty! I love the pic at the top – very cool idea. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m actually a yoga teacher and I teach a hot power yoga class in Tampa, FL. I totally agree with you – hot/Bikram classes give you such a different feeling afterwards than a regular Flow class does. As a participant I prefer flow, but I’ll teach just about anything. It’s in my blood. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
