Happy almost-weekend! I had another busybusybusy day at work. I came home and had leftovers for dinner, which is always nice because I feel like I have so much extra time in my evenings when I’m not cooking. It’s super dark outside right now, with crazy black clouds and lots of lightning. I love summer storms!! The weather has been threatening rain all week but we haven’t gotten anything. Perhaps tonight we will!
I started my day with a 4-ish mile run with my boyfriend. We both left our Garmins at home but we both guessed we went about that distance. I came home and whipped up a smoothie for breakfast. I loved this mix!
Mango Peach Green Smoothie
- 2 cups water
- 1 peach, pit removed
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 2 handfuls spinach
- 5 small stalks kale
- 5 leaves basil
Add it all to the blender, in the order listed and process until smooth and creamy. Enjoy with a straw. Because smoothies taste better out of a straw. I promise.
I didn’t have a straw this morning…and it was sad. Maizey gave her saddest face to express said sadness.
For lunch, I met up with my boyfriend today for the mini food truck/music festival in downtown Winston-Salem, going on each Thursday for the next two weeks. We got food from King’s Creole – the sweet potato hash with sausage & shrimp and the sausage and chicken jambalaya. They were both awesome. Very flavorful and just enough spiciness to make me feel badass but not too much that I couldn’t eat it. The guy that took our order (maybe an owner?) has celiac so he’s was very helpful identifying gluten-free dishes for us.
We ended up eating at my bf’s place because it was so hot outside. Maizey wiggled her head in, and smooshed herself in between our legs, begging for some food. It was cracking me up.
Update: the storm has moved in! Maizey is seeking comfort. I interrupted their viewing of This Old House to photobomb them.
Alright, I’m gonna go watch this storm! I love it!
