Man, I’m feeling behind after being out of town for just a couple days and adjusting to post-marathon life! I also feel totally off my routine since I’m taking a few days off from running post-marathon and without a routine, I’m a hot mess. (You can read about my typical morning routine here.) I’ve been letting myself sleep in (I slept 9 hours the past two nights!) and enjoy a lack of structure after a long period of very structured training leading up to the race.
I’ll do a full recap about the race soon (let me know if you have specific questions), but in case you missed it on Instagram, I qualified for Boston! My time was 3:28:50. I felt great about the race and I so appreciate how excited all my readers and internet friends have been for me! I haven’t been sore at all, which is really kind of weirding me out. But I have been really tired since the race, probably because I didn’t sleep well (i.e. didn’t sleep at all) the night before or after. And, you know, that whole running 26.2 miles thing. (Or 26.4 according to my Garmin! Darn tangents!)
I realize I promised in the last post that Tommy and I would share our engagement story over the weekend…and that didn’t happen. We were just enjoying having a weekend together and getting to spend so much time together since that never happens. But, we’ll get to it soon…I promise! I doubt any of you were hanging around, waiting 😉 but I have this inordinate sense of responsibility to do something when I say I will so it’s been nagging at me.
t-shirt | my sunglasses are a piece of crap – I don’t recommend them 😉 I’m jealous of Tommy’s Ray-Bans!
We came home from Wilmington on Sunday night and enjoyed a staycation on Monday. I spent a lot of time reading (currently sucked into this) and we went to the driving range for a bit too. I’m completely obsessed with these golf shoes from Adidas (thank you Adidas!). They’re cute and comfy, and I kind of want another pair just to wear around town. I LOVE my Adidas Adizero Boston running shoes (review here) and am on my 3rd pair, so it was fun to branch into another kind of Adidas shoe and like it just as much.

I also wanted to announce the winner of the Beautycounter giveaway! Chelsea (@ceoleary), you won! Shoot me an email at afoodiestaysfit [at] gmail [dot] com to claim your prize! 🙂 If you didn’t win, but want to make sure you hear about future Beautycounter promotions/giveaways/deals, sign up for my newsletter here (if you haven’t already).
Alrighty, I’m off for now! It’ll probably take me a couple days to pull together the race recap, but I have a fashion post drafted with some of my spring picks that I can probably get up sooner, so keep an eye out for that in the meantime!

atCongratulations!!!!!! This is a silly question. Do majority of Boston qualifiers run the Boston Marathon? I’ve always wondered, if you qualify, is it assumed you race? Congrats again!
Teri [a foodie stays fit]
atThank you! You know, I actually wondered the same thing about how many people run it vs. how many people qualify! I’m sure not everyone can make it there to run it…but I’m hoping too!

atOkay first of all, congrats!! I know that’s been a big goal for you and I’m so happy to hear about Boston. Second of all, is it just me or do you also think of Judy Mac and Tess of the D’Urbervilles when you use the word inordinate”? ?
Teri [a foodie stays fit]
athaha YES exactly. I feel like I’m plagiarizing whenever I use that phrase…but it’s one of my favorite phrases. So glad you get me. 😉
And thanks! I remember hearing about your dad running marathons and qualifying for Boston and I was always so impressed and it felt SO out of reach. But it’s been a goal for over 15 years! Thanks for remembering. 🙂

atHe still runs them! We were even there with him the year of the bombing. He was going to run this year then had to have brain surgery instead ?. He’s already qualified for 2018 so you can run together (with hundreds of others ?).

atAmazing–so excited to hear about your marathon!! Random question–I got the Adidas Adizero Bostons and am hoping to learn to love them, but I think I might need an insole for a bit more arch support–which of the superfeet insoles do you use with yours?
Teri [a foodie stays fit]
atI wear the Berry superfeet insoles: http://rstyle.me/n/b3j92w4k3w
And I definitely like the Adizeros and my New Balance Zantes better with the inserts!
