Quickie Blog Announcements

Hey guys! Happy Friday! This week had been nutso – I’m so glad it’s almost the weekend! I have a Friday Favorites post coming at you later, but I wanted to share a few quick updates.

  • I added a few new subpages to the Popular tab, and I’ll try to update these regularly.
    • Winston-Salem favorites (restaurants, activities, salons, etc.).
      • If you’re local, I’d love to hear your favorites! I’ve also had a lot of requests for a visitors guide to WS so I will try to get that done soon!
    • Gear: All of my must-have running, CrossFit, kitchen gear. If you’re looking for a reco on something specifically let me know!
    • Books: I also added a new page with the books I’ve read recently (or not so recently since I’ve had this page in the works for a looooong time!). I included books in categories across the board – running, nutrition, fiction, nonfiction. And I’d love to hear what books you’ve read lately and loved!
  • I’m super excited for the start of a new series on my blog – exact name TBD (any recommendation? Does a series name matter? ha!). But, the gist of it is that I’m going to have guest posts from other runners, sharing running advice. I’ve been running for over 15 years, and I STILL feel like I need advice from other runners and learn so much from other runners, and I think you guys can learn about running from others too. We all have difference experience and perspective. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and I’m so glad I finally emailed my first guest poster to ask if she’d be interested – Michelle from The Runner’s Plate is up first, and I’ll be sharing her top 5 Essentials Every Beginning Runner Needs soon. She is an incredible runner and her blog is one of my favorites.
    • If you’d be interested in guest posting, I’ll have a Google Form ready soon! I can’t wait to hear from and learn from more of you!! And, you don’t have to have a blog or be the “best” runner to guest post for me. I want to hear from all runners – brand new runners, 40+ year runners (hey Mom! Want to write a post??), runners who never want to race, runners who are addicted to races, everything. 🙂
  • I registered for the CrossFit Open. Who else is doing it?
    • My hands are still a wreck. I’m not excited about the pull-ups!
    • My gym is hosting a Friday Night Lights Open party every Friday where all the members competing will do the workout, and we’ll have pizza and beer (not that I can eat or drink it, but I can certainly bring my own). I think it’ll be really fun – anyone is welcome to come watch, so if you’re local and like watching people on the struggle bus, come on over to Top Tier on Fridays from 5-7.

Alright, I’m off to walk Maizey – you guys have a great morning! Maizey says hey.

You could call your new segment ‘The Run Around’ 🙂

I agree with you that Winston is wonderful! I actually found my hair stylist (Joel) based on your previous recommendation. Maybe I’ll try out the new place too! Have you ever had a facial with Adrianna at Bella Luxe Salon? It is the most amazing hour and a half ever! She’s insanely gifted and it’s worth treating yourself to at least once a year! Also, what do you think of l’atelier? I love the atmosphere and love going across the street to Mast!

I’ve never had a facial from Adrianna! Thanks for the reco!

I’ve only been into l’atleier one time – and it was just to pick up some cold brew coffee they were experimenting with, and I had to run in and out! I need to go back and enjoy the place!

I’m doing the Open! Do you have C2B pull ups? I wish I had worked on them before now. I guess I’ll be getting my 18 reps and then trying to get my chest to touch that bar for the rest of the 20 minutes! We’ll see.

Teri, I love the idea of your mom doing a guest post. I would love to hear her perspective as a runner raising kids and staying active with her grandchildren.
