The Holiday Weekender

I hope you all had a fabulous 4th! Mine was filled with lots of red, white, and blueberry – 4th of July desserts are the best!

Ice cream filled crepes topped with strawberry puree and fruit, a la Jessica.DSC_1009

Blueberry Crumb Muffins. Oooh, these were yummy. I substituted half of the A.P. flour for whole grain pastry flour and they were perfect.DSC_0902

The best blueberry scones, um…EVER. DSC_1062

Other weekend highlights: My brother was here, visiting from Utah!DSC_1005 Along with his cute wife and adorable daughterDSC_0948Still can’t believe my brother is a dad – freaks me right out. I swear we were just kids, screaming at each other. We used to hate each other. I’m so glad we grew out of that. πŸ™‚DSC_0929 We had a delicious, traditional 4th of July feast with burgers, potato salad, and watermelon, followed by fireworks. I have to say, as much as I love professional fireworks shows, there is something magical about doing little firework display in your own driveway.DSC_1027 Especially with little kids.DSC_1059DSC_1045

I hope your 4th was absolutely sparkling.DSC_1035How many siblings do you have? I have 5 older brothers!

Did you go to a fireworks show or have your own fireworks show at home?

Couple of things: LOVE your outfit and those gold earrings!! So cute πŸ™‚

    I have one younger sister

And fireworks are SO fun!! I was just telling my parents last night I’m glad we lived in an area where they were legal when I was younger. It’s just not the same watching a fireworks show as putting on your own πŸ™‚

Thanks! I was trying to find something festive – I got the blue and white in the outfit, but no red! πŸ™‚

Mmm, that crepe looks so festive and delicious!

I have 2 older brothers, and a lot of great brother/sister-in-laws!

It was RAINY here, so we didn’t have any fireworks..boo hoo.

Five older brothers – wow! I have two younger brothers…we’re had our share of fights, but it’s so fun to be together now that we’re adults.

We are at-home fireworks people…but I’m a little scared of ’em! The boyfriend is kinda a pyromaniac and I have flashbacks of Rescue 911 as he gets things crackin’!

OMG!! The crepes, muffins + scones look amazing!!! Looks like you had a great weekend with your bro and his fam. SO cute!!! p.s. for the brownies, I would not put non-instant coffee in them…hehe…brewed coffee might mess up the liquid amount? I would stick to instant πŸ˜‰ but who knows…the brewed might work!

    What a fun weekend πŸ™‚

I’m an only child so while there are some things I like about it, I’ve always been jealous of large families and the comfort of them.

I always envied my friends who were the only child because they were so close to their parents. Guess there are advantages to both situations, right? πŸ™‚

Annnnnnd to answer the question – I am 29 and I have two sisters and a half-sister. My older sister is 32, my younger sister is 19, and my half-sister is 5 – yes, FIVE. Whoops! πŸ™‚

haha! I love that you wrote “Whoops!” about your five-year-old sister. I think that would be so fun to have a (much) younger sibling!

Wow, 5 older brothers! I don’t know if I could handle that! I have an older brother, older sister, and younger brother–so definitely the mix here!

We go to a traditional fireworks show and I honestly have never experienced my own fireworks except for sparklers and those little snap things that you throw on the ground. We never did it growing up (pretty sure it was illegal, ahhaa) so I bet we won’t start our own fireworks as a traditional either. Oh weeelllls, we like the hustle and bustle of being with your hometown crowd!!

What a gorgeous family. Y’all look like you had a blast, literally:)

I had a proper crepe this weekend, with Nutella and fresh bananas and strawberries. Not sure if I could recreate one at home, very impressed!

Thanks for the links, those are terrific posts!

Oooh…that crepe reminds me of the kind I got when I was visiting Paris. I’ve tried to recreate it here and somehow it’s never the same!

Looks like you had a great weekend! I totally agree about the show “Huge,” we saw a preview for it at work (I work in advertising) and I was crying. And your food all looks so great – I did blueberry muffins a while back and subbed WW too! I think the streusel topping may have counteracted it, though πŸ˜‰ xxSAS

You aren’t supposed to notice the streusel part! πŸ˜‰ There was no way I was leaving that out.

I haven’t seen a preview for Huge yet…I think I will probably cry too.
