How to start running and actually enjoy it (with fewer walk breaks and injuries)
I’ve been running for over 20 years and I vividly remember the first time I ran more than five miles – I was 15. Since then, I have run over 50 races, including the Boston Marathon twice. I never thought I’d be able to qualify for Boston, let alone set a personal record there. Running has been my constant through all the changes in my life. From working in Corporate America, moving across the country, getting engaged and married, working 80 hours a week while planning to leave Corporate America, transitioning to running my own business full-time, coping with the loss of my fur baby, and even the day I went to the hospital to have my son. Now, I’m returning to running postpartum, which has been a journey on its own!
Running keeps me sane, helps me manage anxiety and stress, helps me process hard things, makes me a better wife and mom, and brings me SO much joy.
I firmly believe running can change lives, so I want to help YOU start running. And I want you to love it as much as I do!
For the last few years, I’ve been working on packaging up all of my running knowledge and lessons (many that I learned the hard way) that helped me learn to love running and keep running consistently for 20+ years. I’ve even improved dramatically along the way, shaving 11 minutes off my 5K, 30 minutes off my half marathon time, and nearly an hour off my marathon.
And today, I’m opening up The Rookie Runner Program, an online running course and training program
In The Rookie Runner Program, I walk you through what you need to know about shoes, starting to run from scratch (even if you’ve never run more than 30 seconds), how to warm up and cool down, what to eat before, during and after a run, how to get faster and increase your mileage, and MUCH more.
I’ll teach you how to start running and actually enjoy it (with fewer walk breaks and injuries).
I don’t think downloading a training plan off the internet is good enough. At least it wasn’t good enough for me. I needed more knowledge, more confidence, and a lot more support from someone who knew what they were doing.
Who is this running course for?
If any of these sound like you or they’re questions you have, it’s a good fit.
- I’d like to be a runner, but I can’t run 60 seconds.
- What shoes am I supposed to buy?
- I’ve run off and on over the years, but I want to stick with it.
- I’m not a real runner.
- I don’t understand all the lingo. Tempo? Fartlek? Intervals? What’s the difference?
- I want to improve but I’m not really sure where to start.
- How exactly should I warm-up to run?
- What should I eat before a run?
- How can I run faster?
- I downloaded a free training plan from the internet… but I can’t stick with it.
- I keep getting injured, no matter what I do.
If you’ve thought of any of these, my online running course — The Rookie Runner Program — is for you. If you think ALL of these, you need this course.
What does a running coach cost?
A running coach typically costs $150-$250 every single month. I can be your virtual coach for $137, period. You pay once and you get access for life. No recurring payments.
When you enroll, you’ll get your own login to access to:
- 8 hours of video content, broken down into bite sized lessons
- Six training plans from 5K to Half Marathon, designed for beginner or intermediate runners
- A Running Dictionary so you can speak the runner lingo!
- Access to my Live Coaching calls (and all recorded calls!)
- A free app so you can watch or listen anywhere.
- A private Facebook Group for members only. These are your built-in running buddies and direct access to me to ask your running questions. I reply to every post and comment.
My favorite part of the course is the Facebook Group. I read every single post, comment, and question, and I reply to them all. I love being able to cheer you on and help you reach your goals. And I also love the community we have there. All of the Rookie Runner Program members become your instant running buddies.
Is it worth it?

Thank you Teri!” -Leah, Minnesota
“The Rookie Runner Program is great! I used to be a runner but it’s been years and the course has helped me make a plan to get started again from just walking all the way up to running a half marathon again. It’s complete with learning what gear/shoes I’ll need to warmups/stretching to nutrition. The courses are easy to watch and not too long that I could watch them at my leisure without feeling like it was taking too much of my day. The Rookie Runner Program has gotten me motivated and excited to run again!” – Alissa, Colorado
“Teri’s course is great, it covers everything deeply and the information is serious and reliable. I’ve been running for years and I learned a ton, definitely recommend and would absolutely take it again.” -Leticia, Brazil
“Had some unexpected free time this morning so I just finished the shoe section of your running course! Soooo helpful! I’ve read so many different articles about finding the best running shoes but it makes so much more sense after seeing the visuals throughout the video! Excited to add some more shoes to my rotation!” – Erika
