Homemade Hot Cocoa

Hi people! The blogging has been a little sporadic this week because I am STILL sick! But you know the cure for sickness, homemade hot cocoa.

Simply Delicious Hot Cocoa

  • 1-2 T sugar (Depending on how sweet you like it)
  • 2 T unsweetened cocoa (I always make these heaping tablespoons since I like a strong chocolate taste)
  • small pinch of salt
  • dash of cinnamon and/or cayenne for kick!
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 t vanilla extra
  1. Combine the sugar, cocoa, salt and cinnamon in a mug.
  2. In a separate container, heat the milk in the microwave for 1.5 minutes or until hot.
  3. Gradually add milk to the dry ingredients and stir well. (You might want to use a fork to kind of whisk it as you stir.)
  4. If you have a milk frother, froth away.
  5. Stir in the vanilla.
  6. Enjoy!

It’s simple, but it’s a favorite!

What’s your favorite warm drink? This is a hard one for me! I love chai lattes, hot cocoa, and spiced cider. And lots of kinds of herbal teas, coffee, and espresso…too many good ones to pick just one!

Aww, hope you feel better soon love. I usually crave soup when I am sick (so ordinary I know) but sometimes I crave weird things too, like cottage cheese and toast. It’s more of a childhood association I think. My mom would always make this for me when I was sick. Oh and pancakes. Pancakes always make me feel better. 🙂

Hmmm…I like cider, black tea (with milk!) and a good cappuccino. I also like an occasional cup of eggnog during the holiday season 😉

I’ve never heard of Title Nine, what’s wrong with me?!

Those salads look soooo tasty, I actually do crave salads after workouts sometimes, I think because they’re usually kind of refreshing. I never want to eat a “meat and potatoes” kind of meal after a big run, I’m too hot and sweaty! haha.

And I just have to point out that it’s Glinda, not Glenda. Get it right 😉

I think Fall colds hang on forever! Getting even a short workout in everyday and eating well has helped me. Love “Food Should Taste Good” chips. Might have to get some for my flight tomorrow. Get well soon so you can enjoy the beautiful fall foliage.

I just got the new Title 9 catalogue too! Their winter stuff is SO CUTE! It doesn’t actually get cold enough here in CA for a lot of their cold weather items, but I want them all anyway 🙂

Sucks to be sick! Yogi teas are actually made here in Eugene, OR. Cool, huh? I too would loooove having lots of money to buy whatever I wish from Title Nine, JCrew, Lululemon or Ann Taylor Loft. Pots of money. Wouldn’t that be simply fabulous? I’m loving Grey’s per the usual.

Feel better, girl! And thanks for the cocoa recipe. Sometimes all I need to feel better is a hot mug-o-cocoa. I really recommend Cold-Eeze. I was sick earlier in the week, and — no lie — it helped tremendously!

Great cycle class this morning, you rock! It’s not even 9am and after reading this post and seeing your pic I want a salad! Those salads look SO good.

Not sure if you like pumpkin or not, but lately I’ve tried a few of the pumpkin recipes from this site and they have been awesome. http://annies-eats.com/

I hope you stay on the path to recovery. Maybe some fried oreos (what???) at the Dixie Classic Fair would wipe out your yuckiness.

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. I occassionally crave salad, but not when I’m sick. And that hot cocoa recipe sounds great! We have all of those ingredients at home, so I’ll probably be making it soon. As for favorite drinks, it changes all the time. Recently I’ve really been enjoying Steusel Cake flavored coffee.

You may want to look into making Vitamin D part of your daily routine, especially going into winter. There is so much new research out on it…it is kind of amazing 🙂

I also love making hot chocolate in the winter – but I think my favorite hot drink is hot apple cider. There is something so comforting about it.

I hope you feel better soon! Everyone seems to be getting sick right now.
That’s kind of crazy how you’re craving salads right now.. maybe it’s your body trying to get in as much healthy nutrients as possible so that it can fight off the infection.

My favorite warm drink.. well.. now that I think about it, I can’t remember the last time I had one. Probably around 1-2 years ago. When I DID drink them, my favorite was easily hot chocolate.

Every few weeks I swoon at the photos and clothing/workout clothes in Title Nine and Athleta catalogs that I receive so often…I circle everything I want…and then toss the magazine into the recycling bin…somehow, the act of the circling things makes me feel better…no idea why…haha. One day, I will save up some money to actuallt purchase some of the items I circle.
