I need to get a new desk. I sold my old one because I didn’t think I’d use my desktop computer anymore and I don’t really need one with my laptop…but I find myself wanting to pull out my old PC just for Windows Live Writer (the BEST blogging software). Anyway, here’s the ones I’m looking at. Whatcha think?
White Langston from World Market – $179 (+ free shipping!)
Threshold Mixed Materials from Target – $99
Belmont White World Table from Crate & Barrel – $399 (on sale) + I have a 15% coupon. The thing I love about this one is that I could stand at it! It’s counter height. But it’s pricey!
Brooklyn Work Table from World Market – $175 (on sale) + free shipping. This one is also standing height but the reviews say it scratches easily. But, a much better price point.
I love the idea of a standing work station but these desk options are also much deeper – 27″ vs. 20″ of the regular desks so they are pretty big. I have the space but worry it might just look odd.
Any thoughts? Any other suggestions? I’ve also been scouring Craigslist but everything is so big and formal, like big executive desks. Not my style.

atI love the first one! Then again that may just be because of the cute setup… ;-). But I do really like white for desks.

atWhite Langston (#1) for SURE! You’ll love having the little shelves, plus it’s adorable. Just from experience, Target’s particle board furniture blows. I type this as I’m staring at my broken Target dresser…

atI vote #1! It looks the best and provides shelves.

atI love the texture of wood–it looks more homey and warm–and I’m also a fan if darker, more rustic-looking metal, so I’d say #2 or #4. Wonder if you could varnish or otherwise treat the wood in #4 to make it more scratch-resistant somehow? I’ve been wanting a standing desk for a while, if you go with one of those, it would be great to hear your thoughts!

atgood point! Wood is homey and warm! I have my work desk all rigged up so it can be standing when I want it to. It’s great – but if I’m in heels, I’m sitting. 🙂

atThe first one gets my vote as well — simple, but functional.

atI have an adjustable desk at work so I can sit to stand. I never sit, never. I love standing at my desk.

atI have mine set up to sit or stand too. But when I wear heels, I can’t stand! My feet hurt! 🙂 I do love standing though – I swear time goes faster!

atThat should say “I can sit or stand”. I really need to start proof reading before hitting submit……

atI love the Threshold desk. I am all about furniture like that these days, though. I bought my desk at a small antique store for about $50. It’s not perfect but it was a pretty excellent deal.

atI scoured our local antique and consignment stores for a while. no luck! i need to try again!

atI got my last one from overstock. It’s hit or miss sometimes, but if they have what you want, they often have it for a pretty good price – plus cheap shipping!
Teri [a foodie stays fit]
ati haven’t looked at overstock in a long time; thanks for the reminder!

atMy favorite has to be number 1! I think it would look great in any room!

atI like #1 the best, but I’d definitely check out thrift/consignment stores first. Some have such great deals. I always forget about trying there first, but was recently looking for a dresser and decided to stop in a local thrift store. I found a really nice armoire-type dresser (real hardwood, not particle board or veneer) and only paid $65. And, it was obvious that I could have talked them down, but that’s never been something I’m comfortable doing. Oh well…could have saved even more, but it was still a great deal.

atThanks for the suggestion! I looked a while ago but I’d kinda forgotten about them. I’ll check back. And I’m the woorrrrst negotiator. I feel sooo awkward!
