A round up of recent summer outfits with lots of shorts, easy-to-wear tanks, fun dresses, and comfy shoes (a mandatory). I also shared a few of my favorite workout outfits for running, lifting and yoga!
How on earth is it mid-August?!?!?! I mean, on the one hand I’m a little over these hot, humid days, but I’m also a bit disturbed that kids are starting school again already. Never mind that I don’t personally have kids – it still marks time.
Even though I now work from home, I get ready every day (a question I get asked often on Instagram!). I don’t necessarily wear office attire – I definitely couldn’t wear denim shorts in Corporate America – but I always put on real clothes and do my makeup. It helps me stay focused, and I feel better when I do, even if I don’t see a soul all day.
Getting ready also makes it easier to grab a last minute coffee or lunch with a friend if I’m dressed and ready. And working from home can be isolating so I jump at every opportunity to meet up with friends. I have started implementing very casual Fridays though – and if I don’t have anything on the calendar, I kick it in leggings (which you’ll see in the very last photo).
Alright, here’s what I’ve been wearing lately! I linked the exact items in most cases and noted if anything is a similar item.
This is one of my go-to outfits. I especially love this perfect striped tank. And you’ll notice these shoes are linked all throughout this post. Mine are a few years old from Ancient Greek Sandals, but these are identical and much cheaper. They’re the perfect shoe for almost every outfit – jeans, shorts, dresses, everything.

See? There’s that tank again, along with my trustiest jean shorts.

People ask me on Instagram about these sunglasses almost every time I post a selfie. I love the basic aviator shape, but the blue lenses are little different. And the smaller frame size is perfect for smaller face. (How cute is Maizey? SO CUTE.)
This v-neck tee is from J.Crew and I have it in nearly every color. I wear an XS in it and it’s fitted but not tight – just how I like it.
top (comes in tons of colors) | shorts | shoes
I am so happy that this top is still available! I wear Lilly Pulitzer all the time in the summer but can never help with outfit details because it’s usually an older pattern. However, this exact top is still available and it’s reversible!
I have multiple pairs of J.Crew chino shorts.. They are comfortable, great quality, and come in fun colors. A fun color makes it easy to just pair them with a basic white tee. Oh, and these shoes are beyond comfortable. I bought them when I was suffering through plantar fasciitis.

These pants are cute AND comfy. And see that tee? Yep, again.
I got these shorts years ago from Loft and they magically still have them in stock. They’re a denim look, but feel a little dressier with the smooth texture and super dark wash. I love this yellow top. I can’t find the exact one, but I’ve linked a very similar one.

These jean shorts are a brand new pair that I just got this week. The distressing is fun and I LOVE that they aren’t tight around my muscular legs. They ride high which I’m still getting used to compared to my other jean shorts, but I love them for a different look. (They run true to size.)

This dress is my favorite pick of summer. You know when you have a dress that you wear over everything else in your closet every time? Yeah, this is the dress. I love the ruffled straps, the waist, the pattern, and the length. It’s perfect. I plan to wear it to the pre-wedding party tonight.
Dress (summer favorite!) | shoes
This blue striped dress is such a great staple in the warm months. While the exact one isn’t available, I linked two options that I would also buy in a heartbeat. The blue and white stripe is a fun, classic pattern.

I’ve had this dress for years and finally got the black one too since it just fits beautifully. It’s flattering, feminine and stretchy. It can be dressed up or down, and it comes in SO many colors – I plan to get a collect them all eventually! I have an XS – more sizing notes on the next photo!
It transitions well to fall and winter with a denim jacket or a long cardigan. The black dress (below) will be great for winter with black tights and tall boots. (I have these and they’re worth every penny – they still look brand new after many years!)
I told ya, I LOVE this dress. When it arrived, the XS seemed a little big but after I washed and dried it, it fits perfectly. It’s cute with heels, sneakers and sandals! I got these block heels to replace a nearly identical pair I’d had for 5 years that had really started to show their age (and then some). I’m happy I found a dupe!

I was never sure how to pull off the stacked bracelet look…until I finally got enough bracelets for it to work. And it’s actually more comfortable with more bracelets vs. fewer since they don’t move around as much.
A big stack is especially important when I dress up because I have a very intense tan line from my Garmin running watch that doesn’t exactly go with nicer outfits. 😉 Some of these bracelets were gifts from Beautycounter leadership and some things I purchased. I linked the exact ones that I could find links for!

Fun fact: this crop tank is actually a men’s tank from Lululemon! They hemmed it for free for me at the store and now I have a super loose, amazing crop top for running. I purchased a men’s XS tank, and I’m finding more men’s stuff goes on sale quite often so I’m for SURE gonna do that again. The men’s colors are better lately too!

I love summer evenings on the golf course with Tommy. This is my favorite sleeveless golf shirt – super flattering! BTW, fun fact, Tommy is a GREAT golfer.

My yoga look from a few weeks back. These leggings are my absolute favorite from Lululemon and and I always wear this long line bra to yoga so I can strip my tank when it gets hot but still have lots of coverage. (It’s also the bra I wore running the Boston Marathon.)

These shoes are so fun! Unfortunately they aren’t made in this color anymore, BUT I linked the new version which is also so cute! They are not my absolute favorite for running (these are), but I wear them on easier runs or walking Maizey.
I got these Adidas Boston Marathon shorts at the Boston expo this year and love the color (they’re not the most comfortable for running so better for lifting or kickin’ it). The On Cloud shirt came from running camp!
Hokas (mine are old, but here’s the newer version!) | shorts | watch
And here’s my casual Friday look from last week! I got these faux leather leggings during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. They’re snug (oh hai, first pair of Spanx) but I’ve heard they stretch a little so I’m hoping for the best since the larger size was sold out. This sweater is on sale, and I love how cozy it is since I’m always freezing in the AC.
You can’t see it in the photo but this bra is LIFE CHANGING. So freaking comfy. Also Spanx, which is becoming my new favorite brand. Is this what mid-30s look like?

I laugh when people ask where I got something (which is a daily occurrence on Instagram), because it is almost ALWAYS the same answer: J.Crew or Nordstrom or ShopBop, which you probably noticed from this post. I love the quality, large selection and great return polices at all of those stores. Revolve is another good one I check out sometimes too.
Sticking to a few stores also makes shopping simpler. I know my size in the basics I love and when they go on sale, I snag them.
Alright, I’m off to knock out some more work and get some things organized for the wedding this weekend. It’s black tie which will be so fun!

Hi! In the last pic, the sweather links to a waffle titch sweater with pockets. Is that the same sweater? It doesn’t look there are pockets on the one you are wearing. It looks soooo cozy, can you also note how it runs, size wise? Thanks!
Mine is the older version, which had pockets! I found it run true to size!
