A round-up of my summer outfits, including my favorite jeans, dresses, skirts, and shorts! I linked everything, noted what’s on sale and shared some styling tips!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared recent outfits! Since I’ve travelled a TON this summer, you’ll see a wide range of outfits. That’s what happens when you visit cooler places (glorious mountains) and then come home to the hot and humid South!  (Where have I been in the last month? Boulder, Utah and Boone!)

Anyway, let’s get to it shall we?

UPDATE: Be sure to check out my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks to see what I’m buying for my wardrobe this year! I shop only a few times a year and this is THE sale I never miss!

Summer outfits with jeans

I kind of love wearing jeans in the summer. Probably because AC is blasting all the time so I’m freezing whenever I’m inside. White jeans are my go-to for the summer but I also love a good pair of distressed denim.

I also prefer jeans for flying since planes can get so cold… and something about my legs touching airplane seats freaks me out. So shorts are out, even when it’s 98 degrees when I get to the airport. A chambray shirt is another travel must-have since it can double as a light jacket.

And those loafers? BEST PURCHASE EVER. I’d been looking for the perfect loafer – style + color + comfort – that didn’t cost $700+ (cough, Gucci). These Sam Edelman loafers are affordable and comfortable right out of the box. I walked literally 3 miles in them the first day I had them.

I wore this outfit on a recent date night with Tommy. During an intense a year with 80+ work weeks, I didn’t get a lot of time to hang out with friends and definitely did not get enough time with Tommy. Date nights have been a priority since I quit my corporate job.

Dark jeans (yep, even in the summer) + a pretty tank will always be a favorite date night outfit.

I go back and forth on how I feel about this top (not entirely sure it sparks joy 😉 ) but I get a ton of compliments when I wear it. Plus it makes me feel put together quickly, so I haven’t purged it.

I’ve always been on the fence about white heels but I’ve really loved these! They’re really cute with skirts and dresses too. And you know comfortable shoes are a mandatory for me – they pass the test.

Recent Workout Outfits

Less work means more time to play! One of my favorite things in the world is playing a few holes of golf after work with Tommy. It’s so relaxing and it’s great quality time for just the two of us. Plus, I love a good golf skirt. 😉

This was one of my favorite outfits when was in Bolder, CO for the Bolder Boulder 10K last month. I rarely wear leggings as “clothes” – I reserve them for workouts – but I was perfectly happy to spend a day being a tourist in these leggings since my day involved hiking. And these Lululemon leggings are so freaking soft and flattering.

Oh look, leggings again! 🙂 The weather in Boulder was so nice and cool, and it was kind of fun to wear long sleeves, long after they became unbearable in North Carolina. lululemon long sleeved shirt

And clearly back in the South for this one!

Summer dresses

This dress always comes with me when I travel since it’s comfortable and so very flattering. (This was from my Utah trip in April.) It comes in a million colors and you can dress it up it up or down. I’ve worn it with Chuck Taylors, flat sandals and heels.  It’s super cute with a denim jacket too. I have an XS for a snug fit.

I am in LOVE with this dress – the cut, the pattern, and the fit. I got it from Shopbop (here’s why I love ShopBop) and have been super impressed with it. It’s the brand cupcakes and cashmere,; their stuff has such pretty and feminine patterns.

This dress is another favorite, but I can’t find this green color anywhere anymore. I paired mine with some work heels, but you could go any way you wanted with this dress with flats.

Cutest summer dress ever, no? I love this color and cut! (Tommy really loves this dress too!) The pleated skirt is so fun and different and the embroidery is a show stopper. Also a show stopper? The price. I have been loving ASOS lately.

I loooove this dress and am excited to wear it for a wedding we have in August. It’s a faux wrap dress, the color is so soft and pretty, and the fit is so flowy and feminine. I can’t find this exact dress anymore, but I have linked a very similar options below!

See, didn’t I tell you I love the wrap look?? This dress is similar to the dress above but a shorter option. (I took it to Ireland with me last fall – it seems to work well in all seasons!)

Sadly, this zebra dress is from forever ago and I can’t find the pattern online, so I rounded up a few similar picks from Lily Pulitzer. I never thought I would enjoy wearing Lily Pulitzer when I lived in Utah, but I guess the south changed me? The patterns are just so fun! Plus, I find it hard to find pieces that work for a more muscular body-type, and Lily P is shockingly one of the best options I’ve found for that.

Another summer dress I am LOVING lately.  I always love gold jewelry but I feel like it pairs especially well with this look.

I sadly ended up sending this white eyelet dress back since it ran a little large. But I loved the midi length especially! I also LOVE these heels. They were for my wedding, and I cannot even begin to tell you how worth every penny they are. I wear them ALL the time. And they bring back such happy memories!

Swimsuits

Fun fact: I failed swimming lessons three times as a child and am not really a pool person. But, since we do go to the pool a few times a year (mostly to hang out with friends!), I like to get 1-2 new suits each year. I ordered a bunch and these are the ones I ended up keeping. I’m especially impressed by Madewell swimsuits!

Shorts & Skirts

I wore this when I was in Utah for a blogger conference in April. This skirt is perfect for in-between weather since the midi-length provides a little extra coverage. I usually wear it dressed down with flats or casual wedges.

Isn’t this top so fun? I got this a while ago from J.CREW and it’s still on sale! I like this with shorts and jeans, and I love how lightweight it is! I was expecting it to be something I would have to dry clean and press but it’s so airy and light!

I also LIVE in these chino shorts — the price and fit are perfect. I am a huge advocate for sticking to brands you love so that when they have a sale, you know your size and can feel confident about stocking up. J.CREW is one of those stores for me.

These shorts are from Vineyard Vines but they are also from forever ago, so I linked a similar pair! I especially love that they are stretchy and not too short. I am also asked about white sleeveless tees frequently so I linked some below!

These slip-on flats are another wardrobe staple. They are SO comfortable and a perfect neutral for literally every single outfit. They have a little cushion (Korkease baby) that was a life-saver when I had plantar fasciitis but still wanted to look cute.
