Sweetening Green Smoothies with Zing™ Stevia

I’ve been on a green smoothie kick these days… I think I’m trying to trick myself into feeling like it’s spring or summer, which is when I typically crave smoothies–not when it’s snowing and I’m iced in. This winter has been brutal!

A lot of smoothie recipes call for dates and I loooove dates. Too much. I have a hard time keeping them in the house because I go through them so quickly. So, when I was offered a sample of Born Sweet™ Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener, I was excited to see if that could replace the sweetness in smoothies I’ve been trying to get since I’ve stopped buying dates. I haven’t experimented with stevia much, but I like that it’s a plant-based sweetener and is made from only real ingredients — nothing artificial.

SAM_1589

This is my latest favorite smoothie combo:

  • 2 cups milk (I use almond milk or cashew milk)
  • 5-6 stalks kale, stalks removed and discarded
  • 1 cup frozen peaches
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener packet

Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend on high for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth and creamy. And it’ll get awesomely creamy if you use a frozen banana. (You guys know that about bananas, right??) If you don’t have a frozen banana or your peaches aren’t frozen, you may want to add a handful of ice cubes. If you don’t have kale, sub in spinach or romaine.

I’ve been really happy with the sweetness Zing™ has added to smoothies and the little packets are just so darn cute and convenient. I’ve tried it in my coffee too and really like that, and that’s saying something since I’m crazy picky about sweeteners in my coffee. I typically only like honey in coffee and even then, it can’t be too much.

I keep a handful of Zing™ packets in my desk and they’re perfect to add to my afternoon coffee when I typically crave something a little sweet. I think Zing™ would be good sprinkled over berries (sometimes blackberries in a particular are a little tart for me) and macerating them a little bit, and then putting the berry mixture on top of some pancakes or oatmeal. (Mmmm, I’m making myself hungry!)

If you want to add Zing™ to your life (and your smoothies and coffee and oatmeal), visit www.zingstevia.com to request a Free Sample of Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener, plus a $1.50 Coupon. You can find it in the sweetener aisle at the grocery store.

And here’s something even better than a coupon: you can enter for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card. Just leave a comment answering this question: Which one of your favorite beverages are you most excited to mix Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener into first?

I’m pretty picky about sweeteners in my coffee too, I typically drink it black but every once in a while I want to sweeten it. I’ve tried other kinds of stevia before with varying results so I’d be curious to try Zing!
