When I teach cycle, I encourage my attendees to make their goal to sweat more than I do. I’ve only had one person so far whom I genuinely agreed met that goal. I sweat a lot, so what? I’ve heard that it means I’m really fit because my body is just more efficient at cooling itself. 🙂
Here I am in my cute new workout top before tonight’s class. (If you look closely, you’ll see the little knots I tie on my shirt since otherwise it would dip down to about my belly button, and I try not to rock the J-Lo style at the gym).
Pardon the blurry image – I blame it on taking the picture through the mirror, but really I just didn’t adjust my settings properly since I running late for class.
Here I am in my post-workout glory. I really wish you could see how soaking wet my shirt is. It conveniently disguises sweat well.
However, my non-waterproof mascara doesn’t disguise anything well, especially itself. I always forget to take it off before I teach and as soon as I see myself in a mirror, I wonder how many people I’ve scared off from attending again.
I was craving roasted sweet potatoes after dinner (which consisted of a giant bowl of greek yogurt with some sunflower seed butter and granola…totally normal dinner, I know). Sweet potatoes on an orange plate? Not very appealing. Maizey doesn’t discriminate though and stuck her head in the picture. The girl has restraint and didn’t even take a lick. Not like her mother. That plate is empty now folks. And I can’t blame it on the boxer dog.
If you’d like to become a sweaty mess, try this playlist for your next cardio workout. Rachel (at Shedding it) and I exchange spin playlists since we both teach so some of these came from her. She posts a lot of playlists too if you ever want more songs.

atCute top!
So, you teach cycle? How did you get into that?
Teri
atI started going to a lot of cycle classes after a running injury a few years ago and totally got hooked. After a few years, I started thinking about things I would do differently if I were teaching and thought, hey, why not? So I got a group fitness certification and now I teach at the YMCA. Getting paid to work out is awesome. 🙂
Heather (Heather's Dish)
ati love the playlist idea! i’m always looking for good workout songs. also, i get it with the sweating thing…my husband and i always joke that our kids have no chance of being dry since we both sweat so much!
Teri
atHeather, I’m glad it’s not just me. 🙂 My husband doesn’t sweat at all – I think I scare him sometimes.
Andrea (Off Her Cork)
atYour blog is adorable Teri! I love the little knot idea on the shirt and I totally need to start incorporating this.
I will be back because omg you have a boxer! I have a boxer too! Rocky is my little brindle mush-face of love. 🙂
Teri
atThanks – I’m glad you like it!
And you have a boxer??? How did I miss that detail on your blog??
Jess
atThat playlist looks fun! I definitely need to update my playlists : )
I was reading over at “Heather’s Dish” and I found your BLOG and I REALLY like it. I look forward to following! I LOVE your advice about dumping SALT on the last bite – I will have to steal that one : )
Teri
atThanks for your kind words Jess! I’m so happy you like it and will come back!

Teri

atthe sweet potatoes look yummy – – – the sweat situation looks gross! I’m of the non-sweating variety and I don’t think I’ve EVER soaked a shirt. Maybe just dampened the arm pits a little….
Teri
atThat’s because you are a sissy Ash. 😉 Is Jesse a big sweater?
Christie
atSo excited to have found your blog! I am also a certified Spinning Instructor (through MadDogg Athletics). I liked your playlist- may have to share some of mine with you 🙂
Teri
atChristie – I’m thinking of doing the MadDogg certification. Did you like it?
And I would LOVE it if you’d post some of your spin playlists!
Christie
atI definitely will share some playlists! I will start posting them after my T/TH classes for a few weeks- let me know what you think! As for MadDogg, I loved the woman that certified me and learned a lot. They actual own the rights to Spinning, so are kind of the pioneers of the sport. I must say the #1 thing that surprised me is that there are a lot of spinning “moves” people will do that they consider not part of spinning. I’m definitely curious as to how other programs certify, so might have to check them out.

p.s. Maybe its an instructor thing- I sweat like mad too! LOL!
Teri
atAwesome, I’ll look forward to your playlists. And thanks for the info on MadDogg. And for the company in the sweaty category. 😉
Lisa (bakebikeblog)

Teri
atThanks Lisa! I’m glad you like the blog and the play list. 🙂

atI love a good sweat! I wish I was in your spinning class (have I said that before?? I feel like I think it everytime I read your blog…)
I think sweet potatoes, yogurt and sunbutter is a perfectly legitimate dinner. 🙂 Maybe I’ll have it tonight.
Teri
atI would love it if you came to my spin class. I’m pretty sure we’d be good friends in “real life.” 🙂
I’m so happy you support my dinner choices.
Krysten
atOooh thanks for sharing that playlist, those are some great songs!
Teri
atI’m glad you like them!
RunToTheFinish
atoh I love the before after…though I usually look like a wreck before at 6 am. 🙂
I am horrrrrrrrible at cycle, any tips for my arse?
Teri
atIf your booty is still hurting after a few classes (it takes a while to get used to it), I suggest buy a gel seat cushion to take to class or invest in padded bike shorts. And yes, you will feel like you are wearing a giant maxi pad. 😉
nelly
atLOVE the playlist…I am an instructor too! I just found your blog and will be a daily visitor 🙂
Teri
atThanks for visiting Nelly. I hope you enjoy the playlist. Good songs make such a difference when you teach, don’t you agree?
Patty Fischer
atOk, so I just found your blog, and I am in LoVe with you! Haha, just kidding, but really… I am a sweaty beast, and I have never met anyone that soaks a shirt like I do. I’m glad I’m not the only little lady one with this little issue 🙂
