The Weekender: Favorite Links + Last Week’s Outfits

It is a gorgeous day in Winston-Salem today and somehow the day just got away from me without any time outside. Well, I suppose I did spend about two hours this morning running, but the afternoon was spent mostly inside. So I’m currently camped out on my apartment patio with Maizey to get some fresh air while I blog.

This morning’s long run went pretty well. My friend Allison joined me for the first half, which helped a LOT.  I fueled with a salted caramel GU half way through too; I freaking love that flavor. My legs felt heavy for most of the run, but at least I got the miles in. And ya know, yesterday’s run didn’t feel great either, so it’s a good thing tomorrow is 100% a rest day. I need it.

After my run, I ate an RX bar, showered and then ate 3 eggs scrambled with spinach & onion with a couple pieces of toast. I find I can stomach a protein bar of some sort immediately after I run, and it helps me get some carbs + protein in my body, which it desperately needs after a long run. Then, once I shower and put away all my gear, I’m ready for real food. This double re-fueling has been working really well for me. It loosely aligns with the two re-fueling windows detailed in this excellent post.

I finished getting ready for church, but I was still running a little late so Tommy and I decided to live stream the service at home instead. At least I got to put on a pretty dress! 🙂

My dress is sold out, but I like this similar one even better | similar clutch | Heels | necklace | bracelet | earrings

The heels I’m wearing above were on just about every fashion blog I follow this summer and for good reason; they’re so comfy with a block heel (which is all I want these days) and go with everything – jeans, dresses, skirts, even shorts. I finally bought a pair a couple months ago, and wish I’d done it sooner. They’re a neutral suede so I think I’ll get use out of them even into the fall and winter months. Although, they just released a rich burgundy color that I’m now dying over. 🙂

After Tommy and I watched church, I ran to the grocery store for some sushi and then came home to roast some butternut squash and beets for the week and did some laundry. I’m planning to talk Maizey on a walk after I hit publish on this post and then make Superhero Muffins before joining Tommy for dinner.

Alright, onto my favorite links lately!

Favorite Links

Setting A, B and C goals for Running. I loved this post from Michelle. I need to set some A, B, and C goals for the Mistletoe Half Marathon.

I am absolutely swooning over the New Balance for J.Crew workout collection, and I want one of everything polka dotted please. Generally I hate polka dots, but something about these shorts, these capris and this top just works.

These spicy thai noodles look amazing.

It’s 79* outside right now yet I want this coat. I only need a cool $900 for it. I’ll settle for this sweatshirt instead.

Here’s Why Big Cities are Healthier. I’ll still take my lovely small city any day.

I started to read The Constant Princess and it was terrible, so I quit. I’m reading ChiRunning now.

This eggplant parmesan looks delicious.

Lovely design and hilarious and true.

I never really thought about going to Peru…it was lower on my to-visit list. Until now.

I’ll Have Another is a new-to-me running podcast. I loved the episode with Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky about Run Fast Eat Slow that I listened to while running today on the second half of my run.

Favorite Outfits

I loooove this sweater from Asos. I almost didn’t keep it, but I’m so glad I did. It’s cozy and unique and I just feel so sassy in it. 😉 Plus, it was only $30!!

In the fall and winter, I’m drawn to more neutral colors, but if I do wear color, jewel tones are my favorite. I love these pants; I have literally 7 pairs of Banana Republic Sloan pants that I’ve collected over the years. I swear they’re flattering on everyone. They have cropped ones and ankle length ones, and they’re all lovely.

I post outfits on Instagram throughout the week and regularly pin things I want or have purchased on my Fall Fashion pinterest board, so be sure to follow along there if you want more fashion updates. (Have I told y’all how flattered I am that you want to see my fashion posts? Yes, I know I have told you that, but I really am.)

Okay, I’m off to bake! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! xo

You need it. (If only so we can continue our twinner status.) Speaking of twinner status, can we share dresses for holiday parties this year?!

Yay! So glad you find it useful! It’s been really fun for me to find the similar items and share pictures, so I’m glad you like it too! 🙂

Good luck with training! I’m sure it’ll be a lot to manage with kiddos, but you can do it! Which race are you training for?
