The Weekender [Sugar turns me on]

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend has been wonderful so far!

I’ll fill you in on some of my weekend happenings, plus a new thing I’m going to try this week, but you’ll have to wait for the next post. In the meantime, check out some of my favorite reads from the past week.

  • Kath posted a link to a great Dr. Oz [via Oprah] article about sugar and the diabetes epidemic in America. My favorite quote from the article because it’s true and funny: Sugar often becomes an addiction, Dr. Oz says. “When you go to a store to buy food, when you go to a supermarket, to a restaurant, and you get a little bit of sugar, it stimulates the same part of your brain as crack cocaine,” he says. “It just turns you on.”
  • Mama Pea created a vegan Rocky Road ice cream; I can’t wait to try it.
  • I just discovered and starting following Choosing Raw. This blog rocks; so informative, not extreme, and great writing.

I’m off to eat some dinner and hang with the hubbers. Talk to you later!

I took your advice on thinking I was probably lacking in the dk. chocolate department and ate a square before I left for WF…genius

I have to control myself to not link to your blog every day. πŸ™‚

I’m so glad the dark chocolate helped. πŸ™‚

Thanks for sharing…I especially loved the one on diabetes. I think so many people just accept diabetes as a way of life, but in all reality all you have to do is exercise and eat right and you can totally change it!

I went to Whole Foods for the first time yesterday…I think I’m’ in love πŸ™‚

Exactly Karlee! It makes me so sad and frustrates me too that people don’t realize how reversible it can be.

WHAT?????? You hadn’t been before?? Oh girl…I love grocery shopping now that I do my shopping there. And that’s saying a lot if you have any idea how much I used to loathe grocery shopping. πŸ™‚

I know…I dont’ know where I’ve been! The good thing is that there’s not one that close to me, so I can’t go there every other day πŸ™‚ But it’s definitely going to be visited frequently!
