Good morning friends! I hope you’re having a nice weekend. I started off mine on Friday night with my boyfriend; I made a simple dinner with spaghetti and kale salad, and we shared a good bottle of wine. And then I fell asleep on the couch at 9 PM. ha! On Saturday, we met up for a long run at Salem Lake – 13.3 miles in 1 hour, 44 minutes, averaging 8 minute miles. The humidity was brutal! Afterwards, we hit up the Cobblestone Farmer’s Market. I stocked up on some Krankies Coffee, blueberries, and got a garlic braid for my kitchen. I loooove this blend of coffee.
(Krankies is a Winston-Salem company but you can buy their beans online, if you’re interested. Not a sponsored post…just love their coffee! )
Last week at the farmers’ market, my boyfriend and I met a guy when we were admiring his dog. Turns out, his wife reads my blog! And she commented on my post about struggling to find real-food running fuel options and recommended Picky Bars. She and her husband brought a Picky Bar to the farmers’ market this week in case they saw me so I could try one! How nice is that? I was blown away by the thoughtfulness. Thank you Jenni! (and thank your husband too! can’t remember his name… Chris?? Ugh, I’m terrible with names.) Can’t wait to give it a try!
I don’t have many links to share this week – I didn’t’ have much time last week to browse the internet and my favorite blogs. Alas, life gets busy. But, I did stumble upon this gem that gave me serious wanderlust.
13 Gorgeous Mountain Retreats Around the World. Um, yes please.
Last Week’s Workouts
S – rest
M – 4.3 mile run (outside)
T – Pure Barre
W – 30 min stairclimber
Th – 5 mile run (outside)
F – 30 minute walk with Maizey
S – 13.3 miles (outside)
Here’s what I’m planning this week:
S – Vinyasa Yoga
M – easy run
T – Track workout (3 x 1.5 mile repeats at 5K pace)
W – run to the gym + weights + run home
Th – Pure Barre
F – rest or easy cardio
S – Long Run (I may have to delay this until Sunday afternoon. I’m hosting girls’ weekend 2013 2.0! yay!)
Would you rather have a beach vacation or a mountain vacation? I’m pretty I’d pick the mountains. Unless it was Hawaii…then I’d pick the beach. Beautiful beaches + hiking! The beaches without hiking nearby can get a little boring to me since I’m not a huge water person. 🙂

atLooks like a great workout plan for the week! I used to live in NC and I miss it every single day! I am so jealous 🙂 Hopefully we will move back there one day soon!

atBeach! I used to be mountains all the way but life has gotten busier lately and the slow beach life sounds heavenly!!
Is the garlic braid for decoration or utility? That’s such a neat idea…I’ve never seen one before!
Teri [a foodie stays fit]
atboth! I have it up as decoration but you can use the garlic off it too. The farmer at the market said the garlic should last for a year. Pretty cool!

atI am definitely a beach gal! My family has nicknamed me a beach bum 😛 That is impressive that you and your beau went out for a 13.3 mile run over the weekend! Are you gearing up for a marathon?! Please post your thoughts on the Picky Bars, they may be worth the drive to Durham! Have a great week 🙂
