Casual Valentine’s Day Outfits Ideas

It’s almost that day that you either love or hate – Valentine’s Day! I personally LOVE Valentine’s Day, always have, even when I was not doing so hot in the relationship category. 😐 Valentine’s Day can get a bad rap sometimes, I guess because it can be a little mushy gushy or because people think it’s a holiday made up by retail companies, but I think it’s great. I mean, who doesn’t love LOVE?

What a great excuse for a fun date night in, and you get to wear ALL the pink and red and really focus on what matters in life – the love for those around you. I typically prefer staying in and cooking or getting takeout for Valentine’s Day rather than going out since restaurants are always so crazy and the kitchens are slammed and can’t put as much time into the meals as usual. But I do love to get dressed up too, so I think we’ll find a time to go out and get dressed up after February 14th and enjoy a cozy family night on the actual holiday.

I’m also really excited to do cute Valentine’s Day things with Thomas this year! And we’ll for sure introduce him to the Valentine Man tradition. (More on that below!)

In this post, I’m rounding up a few outfit ideas for a casual Valentine’s Day date night since I know so many of us are staying in with kids or just don’t want to fight the crowds. But even if it’s a picnic dinner in your living room, a cute outfit is always fun.

Carter Super Soft Essential Crewneck Sweater

I ordered this pink sweater for an Amazon Roundup a week or so ago, and I’ve already worn it 3 times! It’s SO soft, fits just like you’d imagine, and makes me so happy every time I put it on! The pink is super vibrant and happy, and I love that it’s under $50. I’m wearing an XS, and I usually pair it with jeans and sneakers (these are PERFECT for V-day and the spring). You could also throw it over a black dress and use this bra trick.

Core 10 Women’s Soft Cotton Knot Front Cropped Yoga T-Shirt

If you want to be really comfortable, a pink workout set is a super fun way to feel festive but functional. And you’ll get lots of wear out of it for your spring workout classes. This cropped tee is a perfect option for throwing on top of a basic black sports bra and high waisted leggings. It’s under $20, so it’s a no brainer. I definitely want to snag this to wear for Pilates.

Heritage Fleece Beefy Crewneck Sweatshirt

This berry pink color is calling my name. It’s not in-your-face pink, but definitely festive and can be worn for the rest of the winter. It’s under $20 and ships in two days.

Pink Rib Knit Cardigan

This $20 cardigan looks MUCH more expensive than it is. The light pink color is beautiful and toned down, and you could easily wear it with white jeans or shorts all the way into spring.  The model is wearing a Medium, so if you want a more fitted look, buy your true size or one size down. I believe the model is sizing up a few sizes.

Women’s Sherpa Puffer Jacket

It doesn’t get more fun than this coat. I know we’re all probably ready to shed our coats, but if you live somewhere cold, you might as well add this happy layer to your wardrobe. It’s only $38 after all!

Pajama Shirt and Pants

While I’ll always be team LAKE PJs, I know they’re pricey. If you want a fun PJ set for the holiday but don’t want to break the bank, this set from H&M is just $34 for both pieces. This would be a perfect set for a Galentine’s party. The reviews say the set runs large, but I like to feel like I have room to wiggle in my PJs, so I’d keep my true size.

Rib-knit Dress with Collar

Okay I LOVE this striped dress. It looks stretchy and soft, and I know I could wear it for at least another month this winter. The price is great ($35), and the collar is very me. If you have any school events for your kids this Valentine’s season, this dress would be a perfect option for that. Just pair with sneakers or loafers.

Scalloped-trimmed Cardigan

This is very fun and a perfect transitional top as we (sort of) near Spring. I love the colors for Valentine’s Day, and the cropped length would look great with high waisted jeans.

Long-Sleeve Oversized Two-Tone Sherpa Sweatshirt

I linked this pullover last year and couldn’t believe it was still available when I checked this year! It’s under $20 and a perfect everyday pullover that also feels festive! Just throw it on with a pair of jeans and Vejas.

Valentine’s Day Heart Earrings

This pack of earrings from Amazon comes with 9 pairs, so you can hand them out to friends as small gifts this year. I love the fun statement they make, and the fact that they’re super affordable. If you prefer to wear clothes you already have but dress them up just a tad, these are perfect. They look great with an all black or all white outfit. See how I wore mine below.
