It’s almost that day that you either love or hate – Valentine’s Day! And I personally LOVE Valentine’s Day, always have, even when I was miserable in life or not doing so hot in the relationship category. 😐 Valentine’s Day can get a bad rap sometimes, I guess because it can be a little mushy gushy (<3) or because people think it’s a holiday made up by retail companies, but I think it’s great. I mean, who doesn’t love LOVE? What a great excuse for a fun date night (whether you go out or stay in), wear ALL the pink and red and really focus on what matters in life – the love for those around you.
I’ve got a few ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts for her (and him!), plus some cute outfit ideas whether you’re going fancy or more casual. And nothing that screams Valentine’s Day cheesiness with overkill on the red and pink. 😉
First, let’s talk about love
- Did you have the Valentine Man growing up? No? Well, start that tradition now because it’s the BEST.
- Here’s how Tommy and I met.
- Here’s how our first Valentine’s Day together went. I still die laughing at this.
- And here are allll the posts about our wedding, i.e. the BEST day ever. (Side note: We had fewer than 30 people at our wedding.)
Life with Tommy is just so so good.
And let’s not forget the other love of my life.
Whether you have a fun date night planned with a special someone, or you have a galentine’s day dinner on the books, it’s a great excuse to get dressed up. Here are some outfit ideas, plus a few gift ideas!
First up, a fancy Valentine’s night out
I love this combo because the black is classic and great for any occasion, but the pink earrings add a Valentine’s Day pop that completes the whole look. Another great thing about this outfit is that the pieces can be worn anytime, with different shoes or accessories. You know I prefer timeless pieces that will stay in my wardrobe for a long time! These all fit that bill. And if you need the perfect pink lipstick, First Date or Garden Party are both AMAZING.
Next up: day-date or more casual Valentine’s night out
I am obsessed with this coat, you guys. That pink? YES PLEASE. I think this outfit is so perfect for a casual date because the only statement piece is the pink coat. The rest of the outfit is classic and feminine with a fun pop. Also, these pieces are so affordable (every piece is under $100!).
Valentine’s Day gifts for her + him
Another thing I love about Valentine’s Day is gift giving! While my love language isn’t gifts (it’s Acts of Service, tied with Quality Time), I DO love finding the perfect gift for someone, where it’s something they really need but wouldn’t buy themselves, or something they don’t need but would really love to have. My favorites of this list are the men’s watch, which I think Tommy would love (and let’s be honest, I would steal), and the silk eye mask. (I mean my $10 one from amazon is fine but this one seems much nicer — and it’s definitely cuter!) Oh, Birkenstocks lined with wool. Indoor/outdoor slippers? OKAY.
This guide is for her, him, and everyone in-between! Maybe your mom or sister? Or maybe just friends you want to spoil! Or, treat yourself and be your own dang Valentine. 🙂
And of course, I have to say thank you to YOU, my loyal friends and readers who make this blog so fun and lovely. Happy Valentine’s Day from me to you. <3
