It’s almost that day that you either love or hate – Valentine’s Day! And I personally LOVE Valentine’s Day, always have, even when I was miserable in life or not doing so hot in the relationship category. 😐 Valentine’s Day can get a bad rap sometimes, I guess because it can be a little mushy gushy (<3) or because people think it’s a holiday made up by retail companies, but I think it’s great. I mean, who doesn’t love LOVE?
What a great excuse for a fun date night in, wear ALL the pink and red and really focus on what matters in life – the love for those around you. Even in non-COVID times, I much prefer staying in and cooking or getting takeout for Valentine’s Day rather than going out since restaurants were always so crazy and the food was never that good. So this year we’ll continue that tradition!
I’m really excited to do cute Valentine’s Day things with Thomas too, even though he won’t remember it this year. And we’ll for sure introduce him to the Valentine Man tradition when he’s a little older. (More on that below!)
I’ve got a few ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts for her (and him!), plus some cute outfit ideas whether you’re going fancy or more casual. This year we’re all staying in much more than normal of course, and take out will likely be most people’s go-to. Even if it’s a date by the fire at your house, a cute outfit could be really special.
Valentine’s Day Outfits (casual & dressy!) + Gift Ideas!
First, let’s talk about love
- Did you have the Valentine Man growing up? No? Well, start that tradition now because it’s the BEST.
- Here’s how Tommy and I met.
- Here’s how our first Valentine’s Day together went. I still die laughing at this.
- And here are allll the posts about our wedding, i.e. the BEST day ever. (Side note: We had fewer than 30 people at our wedding.)
Life with Tommy is just so so good.
And let’s not forget the other loves of my life.
Whether you have a fun date night planned with a special someone, or you have a small galentine’s day dinner on the books, it’s a great excuse to get dressed up. Here are some outfit ideas, plus a few gift ideas!
First up, a fancy Valentine’s night out
If you’re venturing to a restaurant that’s doing socially distanced dining, this is a beautiful outfit. I love this combo because the black is classic and great for any occasion, but the red earrings add a Valentine’s Day pop that completes the whole look. Another great thing about this outfit is that the pieces can be worn anytime, with different shoes or accessories. You know I prefer timeless pieces that will stay in my wardrobe for a long time! These all fit that bill. And if you need the perfect pink lipstick, First Date or Garden Party are both AMAZING.
Next up: day-date or more casual Valentine’s night in
I like this outfit a lot because it’s something I would wear on a normal day. I love these booties for a little height, and I love the red sweater. The sleeves are super cute.

Valentine’s Day gifts for her
Another thing I love about Valentine’s Day is gift giving! While my love language isn’t gifts (it’s Acts of Service, tied with Quality Time), I DO love finding the perfect gift for someone, where it’s something they really need but wouldn’t buy themselves, or something they don’t need but would really love to have. I shared gift ideas for the guys in your life here!
Here are a few ideas
And of course, I have to say thank you to YOU, my loyal friends and readers who make this blog so fun and lovely. Happy Valentine’s Day from me to you. <3
