Water Snobs – Giveaway Closed

I remember my first experience with water that tasted different. I was about 8 maybe and was visiting my cousins who lived 3 hours east of us in a very small town. I’ve always loved water (and am constantly thirsty) and after arriving one summer to spend a week with my fave cousin, I got a drink out of the sink. And it tasted…weird. Different. Kind of like dirt or metal. I didn’t think it was bad. In fact, I was so intrigued that it tasted so different than my water at home. I had thought water was water. Now that I’m older, I of course know that there is definitely such a thing as good water and bad water. Hard water and soft water. And sometimes, water that I get nervous to drink.  At home, at work, and at the gym, I drink filtered water 99% of the time because I think it tastes a bit better and I think filtering out whatever crap may be in the water will do good. (I even give Maizey filtered water.) I’m especially picky when I travel. Sometimes the water tastes terrible and sometimes, I’m a little wary of it. When I was in Oregon, even though we stayed in a nice hotel, something about drinking the tap water just freaked me out. So I ended up buying a lot of bottled water, which is about as un-Oregon as you can get. I wish I’d had this fancy new little water filter called EveryDrop™ Water Filter.

DSC 0342 NEF

It’s a portable water filter and is small enough that you could stash it in a medium-sized purse. Here’s a picture of it in my hand for reference. Well, maybe that’s not a fair reference. I have very small hands.

DSC 0348 NEF

Here’s a picture of it on top of a standard size stemless wine glass. (See it flowing?)

DSC 0351 NEF

It’s way faster than my other water filter (the brand you’ve probably all heard of that takes forrrrevvvverrrr to filter water) – 5x faster actually. And it has a travel case so I really could have taken it to Oregon.

And, you lucky kids, you can enter to win an EveryDrop™ Water Filter AND a $100 Visa gift card (early holiday shopping anyone? ). To enter, just leave me a comment telling me where you’d be the most excited to use this handy filter.

It’s so cute! I’d throw this filter in the diaper bag for filling up H’s water on the go! 🙂

Id love to have his for my office. We don’t have a water cooler or anything so I just use a regular old water foundation to fill my water bottle.

Hmm. The places I travel that *definitely* require bottled/boiled water (west Africa), this probably wouldn’t be enough. But my sister has well-water at her house and could use a strain 🙂

  • EmilyG.

How cool is that! I’d love to have that while traveling- sometimes I’m stuck in hotels for work and I don’t really like drinking the water from the faucet.

I’m with you on hotels, I don’t want to drink the tap water, but I don’t want to pay $5 for a bottled water out of the mini fridge either.

  • Josie

I would love to have this to use at work. We have a filter in the refrigerator, but I still don’t care for how it tastes. It would be great for traveling, too! 🙂

  • Mina

This is the best giveaway EVER! I would always have this in my bag. I drink water all day long but only like room temp water so I’m always drinking tap water. This would be so great to have at work!

  • Meghan N

I would leave it in my gym bag to fill up my water bottle rather than hitting the vending machine for a bottled water! I hate the taste of the unfiltered water from the fountain…

My parent’s house has cloudy water. I’d definitely use it there.

  • Marla

What an awesome idea. I can officially say (being from Portland), you were safe drinking the tap water. However, I am sure you responsibly recycled all your plastic bottles. Next trip out you will know 🙂

  • Sara @ LovingOnTheRun

I’d love to try this out! The husband and I drink SO much water and we have looked at filters before but never took the plunge!

  • Amanda
    at

When I travel – I try to drink tap water on the cheap because bottled can be so expensive and guilt-laden with the plastic, even though I recycle. I would totally use this when I travel back/forth to visit family around the east coast (once a month!)

  • Lisa C

This looks really neat! My Brita broke and I’ve been meaning to purchase a new one but haven’t had a chance yet – this would be perfect!

  • Maria
    at

Faster than my ahem, Brita? Sign me up! I’d take this with me on our many hiking trips and weekends in the mountains – mountain water tastes good, but I’m still scared of it.

  • Erika P.
    at

This is perfect for at work! I always lug a water bottle with filtered water from home and once I finish it at work, I’m so turned off by the city tap water that I just usually go without. I would love this!

  • Megan
    at

I’ve just started seeing ads for these! I am going back to work soon (end of maternity leave, sad!) and like to tote a water bottle around with me but am in a variety of locations (preschools, daycares, etc.) and like you I get weird about some of the tap water so I would keep this in my work bag so I can happily fill up anywhere!

  • Lauren L.

I drink water all the time too. Excessively. I also travel to various countries and stay in places where although the water may be safe from pathogens, it does not taste appealing. Love the blog– training for my first half-marathon and finding your resources really helpful.

I like your idea of using this on the go while traveling and staying in hotels that don’t have filtered, unnoticed water. I find myself drinking sink water a lot in these situations but never feel 100% comfortable with it.

    • Sam
      at

      *un-bottled not unnoticed!

  • Kristina E

I would LOVE to use this at the office and while traveling- especially to places where the water tastes different than it does at home. I’m picky about the taste of my water!

  • Jordan Teague
    at

This is cool technology, especially that it filters so fast and that you can take it almost anywhere! But, did you know that almost a million people still don’t have access to even that unfiltered, unbottled water that many of us don’t like to drink? It would be great if Whirlpool could get these into the hands of those people, so that everyone could drink water that wouldn’t make them sick, or even have to be wary of their water.

Such a cool product! I’d definitely want to use it while traveling to filter tap water instead of having to load up on expensive bottled water. I’m always uncomfortable with water fountains or sink water in airports, hotels, etc, so this would be a great solution.

  • Joanna
    at

I drink TONS of tap water at work, and having one of these would literally change the way I drink water forever!

  • Keri
    at

I would use it at HOME! I currently have a Brita Filter System, but I always find mold built up in the top of the container. YUCK! So now I tend to only drink bottled water and that is such a waste of plastic!

It would totally be travelling with me. But I would also need to bring my own cup. Is it weird that in Seattle I was fine getting water out of the bathroom tap, but I felt I was going to get sick by the hotel glass?????!!! Mom has told me too many gross stories about news clips with dirty hotels………. ok, now I’m so weirded out!

I teach at a public high school and nearly all the water I drink during the day comes from a water fountain down the hall. I’m not going to lie, I frequently think about what kind of weird stuff might be in that antiquated fountain, but as a runner I need to drink a lot of water and can only bring so much with me. This would certainly ease my mind!

  • Shelley

I would use this at work! The sink there is too small to fill and clean a Brita, and the water fountain looks questionable! I hare using bottled water, even though I recycle.

I stick with bottled at work and wherever possible. This filter would come in handy at restaurants so I could finally drink plain water instead of always having to order a separate drink even when I’d be happy with just water.

I would be most excited to use this at my in-laws. Their water always tastes like garlic (out of their fridge). I could use this to filter straight from their tap and avoid the garlic water! LOL

I would use it at my daughter’s summer camp (water fountain)
