Happy Monday! This weekend flew by way too quickly. Friday night I was in Charlotte after working there for the day and was able to meet up with my girlfriends for dinner at Sabor. It was so fun to see them and the food was amazing, per usual.
On Saturday, I headed out for a run at Salem Lake. It was pretty deserted out there since it was the Mistletoe half marathon and so many runners in town do that race. It was really peaceful and quiet. AND COLD.
I realized my gloves are not nearly warm enough…my fingers finally re-gained feeling around mile 5 when I was running in the sun. It was really nice to run at the lake – I haven’t done it in ages – and I was really happy with my pace since I haven’t been running long or fast lately. I did 7 miles, averaging an 8 min pace.
After my run, I stopped by Tommy’s for breakfast (he makes killer eggs) and then cleaned my place for FOUR hours – vacuuming, mopping, baseboards, dusting, everything. And then I had some relaxation time with Maizey before meeting some friends for dinner that night.
Last night, I went to the Lovefeast at Wake Forest University with Tommy, Matt and Meg. Lovefeasts are a beautiful Christmas tradition in Winston. I had never heard of it before moving her,e and now it’s one of my favorite holiday activities. This was my first time going to it at Wake Forest though! (Here’s the history of the lovefeast service if you’re interested.)
Hope you guys have a great week! I’d love to hear about your holiday traditions. What do you look forward to every year?

atSounds like a fun weekend – I will have to keep the Lovefeast in mind for next year – thanks for sharing!! We are new to the Winston-Salem area and are enjoying finding new holiday activities! 🙂 So far we have gone to Tanglewood’s Festival of Lights and are planning to attend the WS Symphony’s Handel’s Messiah and Old Salem’s Candlelight Tour. Loving the Christmas season so far in NC!

atThe Lovefeast at Wake is impressive, but there are Moravian churches all over Winston that you could go to. That’s what I’ve always done in the past. There is one on Hawthorne near Reynolds High that does a few Lovefeast services every year. Worth checking out!
I’ve always wanted to do the Candelight Tour at Old Salem! Was it worth it? And i always forget about the Messiah! I’m hoping it’s still going on – going to look now!
Have you been to the Nutcracker? The production here is so impressive. I love Christmas in WS – downtown is magical!

atEvery year at Christmas, I look forward to baking cookies with my Grannie and my cousin. My Grannie’s Christmas cookies have been a staple my entire life, and a few years ago, my cousin and I decided to start sharing that time with her as she’s getting older and it’s more difficult for her. We use her old cookie cutters, an old green bottle that she uses as a rolling pin, and up until a few years ago, we used her old oven that didn’t even have numbers on the dial anymore. It’s such a fun and treasured time every year!

atLooks like such a fun weekend! Gosh, Sabor is so good. I got my parents hooked on it- every time they are in town, they need to make at least one visit there!
