A couple weeks ago, we welcomed Thomas Paul Adams III to our family. We are completely in love, very tired and so enjoying this new phase of life!
Becoming a Mom
It some ways it feels like not that long ago, I announced that I was pregnant. In other ways, that feels like ages ago!! And every time I look at Thomas, it’s still a bit surreal that he’s ours. He’s so incredibly perfect (that’s what every new mom thinks, right?). Even with middle of the night feedings, when he wakes up to nurse not too long after I’ve fallen asleep, I’m taken aback by just how cute he is and how much I love him.
Becoming a mom opened up a new kind of love that I didn’t even know was in my heart. It’s also helped me realize that I can function shockingly well with very little and very disjointed sleep!!
Watching Tommy as a dad has made me fall in love even deeper with him.
He is such a wonderful dad and is so supportive of me, doing as much as he can to help me while I nurse (bringing me water, snacks, burp cloths!), doing stuff around the house, changing nearly every diaper, and more. It’s been so fun to navigate this adventure together. It’s also sweet to see just how much Thomas looks like his dad! I don’t see any of me in him, but hopefully something emerges at some point. 😉 Or maybe he’ll look just like his dad and act just like his mom.
A lot has happened in the three years since we got married – we bought a house, dealt with every major system in our house failing in the first 12 months (AC, heat, water heater, all of it!!), travelled to St. Lucia for our honeymoon, went to Ireland for our anniversary (then came home from the airport to our fence burning down – seriously), helped Maizey through cancer treatments before saying goodbye, got pregnant, and dealt with various pregnancy woes before packing our hospital bags to bring Thomas into the world. I absolutely love getting to do life with Tommy. It’s so much better with him by my side.
And I already absolutely love life with Thomas. He’s the perfect addition to our little family.
